Churchill Station (Manitoba)
Churchill station is a railway station in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. It is served by passenger service Via Rail as well as the Hudson Bay Railway freight carrier. The station is located northeast from The Pas, Manitoba, on the shore of Hudson Bay. It also has Parks Canada exhibits inside. The railway to Churchill was originally built by the Canadian National and completed in 1929. The building contains elements of the Queen Anne Revival and the Arts and Crafts styles. The Churchill railway station has been a national heritage railway station since 1992, and has been restored to its former design by the federal government. The Canadian Government has also recognized the station as a "Recognized Federal Heritage Building" since June 2000. The station building now includes a museum as well as telephones, washrooms and a ticket office which is open one hour prior to departure of the train. Churchill is a town in northern Manitoba, Canada, on the west shore of Hudson Bay, roughly from the Manitoba–Nunavut border. It is most famous for the many polar bears that move toward the shore from inland in the autumn, leading to the nickname "Polar Bear Capital of the World" that has benefited its burgeoning tourism industry. Moosonee Station
Moosonee station is a railway station in Moosonee, Ontario, Canada operated by the Ontario Northland Railway. It is the northern terminus of Ontario Northland's ''Polar Bear Express'', located about 12 miles (19 km) south of the shore of James Bay on the north bank of the Moose River. It consists of a single storey station building, sheds, and a small train yard. The station is located on Arena Road, which marks the northern boundary of the townsite. Directly southeast of the station lie the Moosonee Arena, Super 8 by Wyndham hotel, Moosonee Public School and the Moosonee Campus of Northern College. As of April 2021, the train operates four days per week, with an afternoon arrival and early evening departure on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The Port of Churchill is a privately-owned port on Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Routes from the port connect to the North Atlantic through the Hudson Strait. , the port had four deep-sea berths capable of handling Panamax-size vessels for the loading and unloading of grain, bulk commodities, general cargo, and tanker vessels. Churchill Airport is located east southeast of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. The airport serves the town of Churchill and the surrounding region. James Bay (french: Baie James; cr, ᐐᓂᐯᒄ, Wînipekw, dirty water) is a large body of water located on the southern end of Hudson Bay in Canada. Both bodies of water extend from the Arctic Ocean, of which James Bay is the southernmost part. Despite bordering the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario, the bay and the islands within it, the largest of which is Akimiski Island, are politically part of Nunavut. The Moose River is a river in the Hudson Plains ecozone of northern Ontario, Canada. The river flows 100 km northeast from the confluence of the Mattagami and Missinaibi Rivers into James Bay.
