Churches Of Kerala
Majority Churches of Kerala follow the tradition of Syrian Christians known as Saint Thomas Christians also called Syrian Christians of India, Nasrani or Malankara Nasrani or Nasrani Mappila. Remaining are Latin Catholics and a minority of Protestant Christians. St. Thomas, disciple of Lord Jesus Christ, is claimed to have visited India and founded eight churches in Kerala, the foremost being St. Mary's Church at a place called Niranam near Thiruvalla. It is a Historical Monument today and many ancient relics are still preserved in the museum there. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, also known as the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, is an Eastern Catholic '' sui iuris'' particular church in full communion with the worldwide Catholic Church possessing self-governance under the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. Malabar Independent Syrian Church
The Malabar Independent Syrian Church (MISC) also known as the Thozhiyur Church, is a Christian church centred in Kerala, India. It is one of the churches of the Saint Thomas Christian community, which traces its origins to the evangelical activity of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century. This group split off from the main body of India's Malankara Church in 1772 and was confirmed as an independent church with its current name after a high court verdict in 1862. Although the church is independent under the Malankara Church, Malankara umbrella, the church faith and traditions are strictly Oriental Orthodox, adhering to the West Syriac Rite and consistently using western Syriac language, Syriac and Malayalam during the Holy Qurobo, Holy Qurbono (Qurbono Qadisho). The Chaldean Syrian Church of India ( Classical Syriac: ܥܕܬܐ ܕܡܕܢܚܐ ܕܐܬܘܖ̈ܝܐ; Malayalam: / ''Kaldaya Suriyani Sabha'') is an Eastern Christian denomination, based in Thrissur, in India.
