''Chupp'' () is a 1997 Hindi-language thriller film, produced by Ramesh U Lakhiani, Keshav R Tolani under Kay Aar Films banner and directed by Ambrish Sangal. Starring Jeetendra, Om Puri, Somy Ali, Avinash Wadhavan and music composed by Pradeep Laad. The film was a remake of 1989 Kannada thriller '' Tarka'' which was based on Agatha Christie's play '' The Unexpected Guest''. Plot The film begins with a convict Rakesh Rai absconding from prison and the Police cordoning four sides of the city. During that plight, Rakesh intrudes into a house of an industrialist Keshav Narang where his wife Asha is alone. She identifies him but he threatens her and tries to hide. Then, he is dumbfounded spotting Keshav's dead body who is shortly murdered by Asha. At that point, Inspector Kadam arrives and announces the death of Keshav in a plane crash which throws Rakesh into bewilderment. ''The Unexpected Guest'' is a 1958 play by crime writer Agatha Christie. The play opened in the West End at the Duchess Theatre on 12 August 1958 after a previous try-out at the Bristol Hippodrome. It was directed by Hubert Gregg. Plot summary On a foggy night, Michael Starkwedder enters the home of the Warwicks through a window in the study. He finds the dead body of Richard Warwick, and finds Richard's wife, Laura, holding a gun that supposedly killed him. Michael does not believe she killed him, and she soon tells him she is innocent. The two decide to place the blame on an enemy from the past, MacGregor, a man whose son was killed when he was run over by Richard's car while Richard was driving drunk. As the story progresses, it is revealed that Laura was having an affair due to Richard's cruel nature, and was vouching for the man she was cheating with when she claimed to have killed Richard. ''Tarka'' ( kn, ತರ್ಕ, en, Logic) is a 1989 Indian Kannada-language mystery- thriller film, produced by Praveen and directed and written by Sunil Kumar Desai based on Agatha Christie's 1958 play '' The Unexpected Guest.'' It is the first film noir in Kannada cinema, and the first Kannada film to be made without songs, dance, or stunt sequences. The film stars Shankar Nag, Devaraj and Vanitha Vasu in lead roles along with Avinash, Shivaraj and Praveen Nayak in supporting roles. The film revolves around an escaped convict who finds the body of a man in his childhood friend's house. Inspired by B. R. Chopra's thrillers, Desai started working on a script in the late 80's. Ravi Kapoor ( ; born 7 April 1942), known mononymously by his screen name Jeetendra, is an Indian actor who is known for his work in Hindi cinema. He also serves as the chairman of the Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures. Early life Jeetendra was born in a Punjabi Khatri family as Ravi Kapoor in Amritsar, Punjab, to Amarnath and Krishna Kapoor, whose business dealt with imitation jewellery, supplied to film industry. He attended St. Sebastian's Goan High School in Girgaum, Mumbai with his friend Rajesh Khanna and then studied at Siddharth College in Mumbai. While supplying jewellery to V.
