Christopher Williams (American Artist)
Christopher Williams (born 1956) is an American conceptual artist and fine-art photographer. He lives in Cologne and works in Düsseldorf. Early life and education Williams was born in 1956 in Los Angeles, California. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he studied at the California Institute of the Arts where he received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. under the first generation of West Coast conceptual artists. Work Writing in ''Artforum'' in 2007, art critic Tim Griffin described Williams's approach as "sociophotographic." It has been said that Williams works within the tradition of institutional critique within what Sven Lütticken describes as an informal group, along with Willem de Rooij, Jeroen de Rijke and Mathias Poledna, that investigates the "parameters of the exhibition space." Christopher Williams (Welsh Artist)
Christopher David Williams (7 January 1873 – 1934) was a Welsh artist. Biography Williams was born in Maesteg, Wales. His father Evan Williams wished for him to be a doctor, but he disliked the idea. A visit to the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, in 1892, where he spent some hours in front of Frederick Leighton's ''Perseus and Andromeda'', revealed a new world to him. He left the Gallery with a firm decision that he would be an artist. He studied first in Neath at the town's Technical Institute in 1892 and 1893 under Mr. Kerr. From 1893 he spent three years at the Royal College of Art and then studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1896 until 1901. In 1902, his ''Paolo and Francesca'' was hung in the Royal Academy and his portrait of his father was shown there in 1903. These were the first of 18 paintings by Williams exhibited there. Christopher Williams, who goes by ChrisCross, is a comic book illustrator, known mostly for his stints pencilling Milestone Comics' ''Blood Syndicate'' and ''Heroes'', Marvel Comics' '' Captain Marvel'' and '' Slingers'' and DC Comics' ''Firestorm''. Education and career Williams attended New York City's School of Visual Arts in the early 1990s. While doing so, he caught his big break doing work for the DC Comics imprint, Milestone Comics, which sought to publish a line of comics aimed at attracting a more multicultural audience. He has also worked on other series such as ''Firestorm'' and '' The Outsiders'' for DC comics. In the early 2000s he worked on a series of hardcover graphic novels for international publishing house, Humanoids, Inc., before returning to the States to continue American comics, starting on ''Midnighter'' #11. Career College and Amateur Williams played college soccer at Philadelphia University from 2002 to 2005. Junior and senior year saw Williams earn Philadelphia Soccer Seven and Atlantic Soccer Conference 1st team honors. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management. During his college years he also played with the Ocean City Barons in the USL Premier Development League during the collegiate off season, playing play with the Barons each summer from 2004 through 2006. Christopher Williams (born 15 March 1972 in Mandeville) is a Jamaican track and field sprinter. Williams is best known for winning the silver medal in the 200 metres at the 2001 World Championships. In 2001 he was named Jamaica Sportsman of the Year. Williams has competed in the Olympic Games three times, in 2000, 2004 and 2008, reaching the semi-finals of the 200m on all occasions. He was on the bronze medal-winning 4 x 400 metre relay team at the 2000 Olympics. He finished seventh in the 200m final at the 2007 World Championships. Williams represented Jamaica at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He competed at the 200 metres and placed third in his first round heat after Brian Dzingai and Christian Malcolm in a time of 20.53 seconds. Christopher Williams (born in London) is an English academic. He held posts at the universities of Bristol, Birmingham, Cairo, Cambridge, London and the United Nations. He is an invited Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and magistrate. At school he taught himself to play the trumpet and gained a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, aged 16, studying with Bernard Brown. He then became Head of Brass teaching at Wells Cathedral School and a tutor at Dartington College of Arts. In 1980 he left the UK to teach at the Cairo Conservatoire, Egypt, working with Samha El-Kholy, and was principal trumpet of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. Williams, who emerged during the late 1980s as a recording artist for Geffen Records, has scored many R&B hit singles, notably "Talk to Myself" (1989), " I'm Dreamin'" (1991) and " Every Little Thing U Do" (1993). Christopher Harris "Kit" Williams (December 18, 1798 – November 27, 1857) was an American politician who represented Tennessee's United States House of Representatives, thirteenth and United States House of Representatives, eleventh districts in the United States House of Representatives. Biography Williams was born near Hillsborough, North Carolina, on December 18, 1798. He pursued an academic course and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He studied law, was admitted to the bar about 1820, and practiced law. He married Jane Allison on December 9, 1819.
