Christopher Morgenstierne Munthe
Christopher Morgenstierne Munthe 14 July 1875 – 21 December 1939) was a Norwegian civil servant, military officer and genealogist. Biography He was a born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of colonel and historian Hartvig Andreas Munthe (1845–1905). He was also a grandnephew of historian and cartographer Gerhard Munthe, a nephew of painter Gerhard Munthe, writer Margrethe Munthe and Major General Carl Oscar Munthe, and a first cousin of librarian Wilhelm Munthe and painter Lagertha Munthe. After graduating from the Norwegian Military College, he became a lieutenant in the Kristiansand Brigade. Later he joined the Field Artillery and became captain in 1911. He took a law degree in 1908, and then became a clerk with the magistrate at Romerike. He served as secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Defense in 1912 and from 1917 he was the bureau chief. Hartvig Andreas Munthe
Hartvig Andreas Munthe (9 December 1845 – 17 June 1905) was a Norwegian military officer, engineer and genealogist. Personal life He was born in Elverum as a son of physician Christopher Pavels Munthe (1816–1884). He was an older brother of painter Gerhard Munthe (painter), Gerhard Munthe, writer Margrethe Munthe and historian and military officer Carl Oscar Munthe. He was also a nephew of historian and cartographer Gerhard Munthe (cartographer), Gerhard Munthe and an uncle of librarian Wilhelm Munthe and painter Lagertha Munthe. Through his mother he was a nephew of Andreas Leigh Aabel and Oluf Andreas Aabel, and a first cousin of Hauk Aabel. In May 1874 he married Jeanette Camilla Kristoffersen (1848–1923). Stian Herlofsen Finne-Grønn
Stian Herlofsen Finne-Grønn (31 August 1869 – 1 November 1963) was a Norwegian lawyer, archivist, genealogist and museum director. Biography He was born in the town of Risør in Aust-Agder, Norway. He was the son of engineer Samuel Grønn (1838–1898) and Jacobine Finne (1845–1912). In October 1900 he married Margrethe Borchgrevink (1873–1963), a daughter of Sofie Borchgrevink. They had the sons Hans Finne-Grønn, a painter, and Jørgen Finne-Grønn, an ambassador. He attended the Royal Drafting School (''Den Kongelige Tegneskole'') in Christiania (now Oslo) graduating examen artium in 1888. Sigurd Segelcke Meidell
Sigurd Segelcke Meidell (20 February 1878 – 26 July 1968) was a Norwegian journalist, genealogist and novelist. Biography He was born in Bergen as a son of sea captain Hartvig Segelcke Meidell (1834–1902) and Malin Gohde (1847–1895). His father's family hailed from Kvinnherad, and his mother's family was Swedish. He was the brother of Fascist politician Birger Meidell. In August 1908 he married Nunne Thorbjørnsen (1885–1949). Meidell grew up in Hamar. He finished his secondary education in 1898, enrolled in law studies and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1905. From 1906 to 1908 he was a foreign affairs journalist and theatre critic in the newspaper ''Morgenbladet''. Norwegian Genealogical Society ( no, Norsk Slektshistorisk Forening, NSF) is a genealogical society in Oslo, Norway. It was founded on 22 October 1926 as the first exclusively Norwegian genealogical society. Among the founders were Stian Herlofsen Finne-Grønn, Christoffer Morgenstierne Munthe and Sigurd Segelcke Meidell. The two former had already published the periodical ''Norsk tidsskrift for genealogi, personalhistorie, biografi og litteraturhistorie'' since 1906; in 1927 the Norwegian Genealogical Society launched ''Norsk slektshistorisk tidsskrift'' as its official periodical. Their internal magazine is ''Genealogen''. The organization also runs a genealogical library. Gerhard Munthe (cartographer)
Gerhard Munthe (4 January 1795, Hafslo - 15 December 1876, Luster) was a Norwegian military officer, historian and cartographer. Biography He was born to Major Hartvig Kaas Munthe (1766–1830) and his wife, Bolette Christine, née Pavels (1774–1861), the daughter of a minister. He began attending the war school in Christiania (Oslo) in 1807 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1811. That same year, he was retained by the Norwegian Mapping and Cadastre Authority. In 1814, he became a First Lieutenant and participated in the Swedish-Norwegian War as a cartographer; mapping the battlefields near Kongsvinger. The following year, he was part of a geographical survey team charged with creating a large topographical map of Scandinavia.
