Christopher Hui
Christopher Hui Ching-yu (; born 1976) is a Hong Kong politician and government official. Since 2020, he has been Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury. Biography Hui is the son of a veteran pro-Beijinger Hui Wang-chuen who is a leader of one of the major Fujian associations in Hong Kong. His sister, Florence Hui, was an Under Secretary for Home Affairs. His wife, Rita Chan, is a managing director at J.P. Morgan. Hui received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oxford, and his Master of Business Administration from the INSEAD graduate business school. In 1999, he was admitted as an Administrative Officer in the Government and served in the Economic Development Branch, the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and the Home Affairs Department until 2003. Pro-Beijing Camp (Hong Kong)
The pro-Beijing camp, pro-establishment camp, pro-government camp or pro-China camp refers to a political alignment in Hong Kong which generally supports the policies of the Beijing central government and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) towards Hong Kong. The term "pro-establishment camp" is regularly in use to label the broader segment of the Hong Kong political arena which has the closer relationship with the establishment, namely the governments of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). It is also labeled as the "Patriotic Front" by the pro-Beijing media and sometimes labeled as "loyalists" by the rival pro-democracy camp. Erick Tsang
Erick Tsang Kwok-wai (; born 1 September 1963) is a Hong Kong government official. Since 2020, he has been Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, one of the principal officials of Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was Director of Immigration. Biography Tsang joined the Immigration Department (Hong Kong), Immigration Department in 1987 and rose through the ranks to Principal Immigration Officer in 2009. Witman Hung Partygate
Witman Hung partygate refers to a political scandal in Hong Kong that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. A banquet was held at a tapas bar in Wan Chai on 3 January 2022, during the fifth wave of COVID-19 pandemic, to celebrate the 53rd birthday of Witman Hung Wai-man, a delegate of Hong Kong to the National People's Congress. Amidst initial spread of the Omicron variant, the event was attended by at least 225 people, including fourteen senior officials and twenty lawmakers, exceeding the legal capacity of the venue. The party was held against advice given by authorities to avoid large gatherings, and some attendees were later scrutinised for failing to scan the LeaveHomeSafe contact tracing app, as was legally required. David Webb (Hong Kong Activist)
David Michael Webb (born 29 August 1965) is an activist investor, share market analyst and retired investment banker based in Hong Kong. Early life Webb graduated in Mathematics from Exeter College, Oxford in 1986. From 1981 to 1986 he was also an author of books and games for early home computers, particularly the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. He authored the Pac Man type game Spookyman and went on to create the acclaimed 3D Vector graphics game Starion on the Spectrum. After graduation he became an investment banker in London. Executive Order 13936, entitled "The President’s Executive Order on Hong Kong Normalization", is an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump on July 14, 2020. On the same day Trump had signed into law Hong Kong Autonomy Act, one of the laws from which the order derives authority. The act and the executive order are the US's response to the imposition of a controversial national security law in Hong Kong by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China on June 30, 2020, which was described as "an unusual and extraordinary threat ..to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States" in the preamble. The Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit is a financial summit to be hosted in Hong Kong by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), scheduled for 1–3 November 2022.
