Christophe (singer)
Daniel Bevilacqua (, ; 13 October 1945 – 16 April 2020), better known by the stage name Christophe (), was a French singer and songwriter. He was born in the Paris suburb of Juvisy-sur-Orge, to an Italian father. Career Born in a suburb of Paris, Bevilacqua was rebellious at school and started leading a pop group when in his mid-teens. His first single, "Reviens Sophie" in 1963, was unsuccessful, but after changing his name to Christophe, his second single, " Aline", in 1965, rose to the top of the French pop music charts. He continued to have success in France through the 1960s and early 1970s. His hits include the songs "Marionettes", "J'ai entendu la mer", "Excusez-moi Monsieur le Professeur", and "Oh!... Mon Amour" which he sang in French and Italian. After a small break, he returned in 1971, with Francis Dreyfus launching the Motors record label (Disques Motors) and becoming the producer of Christophe records. Cristophe Schatteman (born ), known professionally as Cristophe, is a Belgian-American hairstylist based in Beverly Hills. Cristophe was born, raised and educated in Belgium. He and his wife Danielle moved to the United States in 1982. In May 1993, Cristophe found himself at the center of the " Hairgate" incident. He gave President Clinton a haircut while Air Force One sat on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport. Marie-Louis-Georges Colomb (Lure, Haute-Saône, 25 May 1856 – Nyons, 3 January 1945) was a French botanist, science populariser, and a pioneer of French comics, known as '' bandes dessinées ''. Under the pseudonym Christophe (playing on "Christophe Colomb", the French name for Columbus), Colomb created comics that were popular among the French intelligentsia, yet were published in '' Le Petit Français illustré'', a children's paper. His popular ''L'idée fixe du savant Cosinus'' (1893–1899) featured a brilliant, absent-minded scientist. His other comics included ''La Famille Fenouillard'' (probably the first French comic, 1889); ''Le Sapeur Camember'' (1890–1896); ''Les Malices de Plick et Plock'' (1893–1904); and ''Le Baron de Cramoisy'' (1899). Henri Christophe
Henri Christophe (; 6 October 1767 – 8 October 1820) was a key leader in the Haitian Revolution and the only monarch of the Kingdom of Haiti. Christophe was of Bambara ethnicity in West Africa, and perhaps of Igbo descent. Beginning with the slave uprising of 1791, he rose to power in the ranks of the Haitian revolutionary military. The revolution succeeded in gaining independence from France in 1804. In 1805 he took part under Jean-Jacques Dessalines in the capturing of Santo Domingo (now Dominican Republic), against French forces who acquired the colony from Spain in the Treaty of Basel. After Dessalines was assassinated, Christophe retreated to the Plaine-du-Nord and created a separate government. On 17 February 1807, he was elected president of the State of Haiti, as he named that area. Alexandre Pétion was elected president in the south.
