Christine McGlade
Christine McGlade (born August 25, 1963) is a Canadian digital designer, strategist, executive, lecturer, former television producer, and children's television host. Overview McGlade is best known for her long run as host of the internationally popular kids sketch comedy TV program ''You Can't Do That on Television''. She was with the show from its very beginning as a local attraction on Ottawa, Ontario, television station CJOH-TV in 1979 until partway through the 1986 season. (In 1985 and 1986 Alasdair Gillis was her co-host.) She also served as host for ''Whatever Turns You On,'' the short-lived spinoff that aired on Canada's CTV network in the fall of 1979. Roger Damon Price (born 1941) is a British former television producer, director and writer active in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. He has created children's television series in all three countries. He created the children's science fiction series ''The Tomorrow People'', ''Junior Points of View'', the British children's sketch variety shows ''You Must Be Joking!'' YTV (Canadian TV Channel)
YTV is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by YTV Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. The channel and its programming is targeted at children and young teenagers; its name was originally thought to be an abbreviation for "Youth Television", though the channel's website has denied this. The channel was launched on September 1, 1988 by owners Rogers Media and CUC Broadcasting upon launch. In 1995, Shaw Communications acquired CUC's 34% stake and in 1998, it acquired Rogers' remaining interest of the channel, before Shaw's media division was spun off to form Corus Entertainment in 1999. C Channel was a short-lived Canadian premium television channel specialising in arts programming. It was one of Canada's first licensed "pay TV" channels when it began in 1983 but it ended in failure within five months. History Toronto-based company Lively Arts Market Builders Inc. was one of several companies that received a license from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to provide a subscription television service for Canadian cable companies. ''Turkey Television'' is a Canadian teen sketch comedy originally aired on Nickelodeon. The show was created by Roger Price and Geraldine Laybourne at the request of Nickelodeon in response to the popularity of ''You Can't Do That on Television'', another Canadian children's sketch comedy airing on Nick. It was originally broadcast in 1985 for one season. The series was about an animated turkey named Thurman T. Les Lye
Leslie Ernest Lye (November 18, 1924 – July 21, 2009) was a Canadian actor, comedian, writer, radio personality and announcer and voice artist. He was an original cast member and played numerous roles on the children's program ''You Can't Do That on Television''. He had a television and radio career spanning over half a century. Early life Lye was born in Toronto, Ontario and after high school, served a stint in the Canadian Armed Forces, he attended the University of Toronto, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then enrolled in Lorne Greene Academy of Radio Arts.
