Christina Lustenberger
Christina Lustenberger (born August 14, 1984 in British Columbia) is a Canadian alpine skier. Lustenberger has one top-ten finish on the Alpine skiing World Cup circuit, a 10th place in a giant slalom at Ofterschwang in 2006. Lustenberger has also won several giant slalom at the Nor-Am Cup level, and finished 3rd overall in the GS standings in 2006. Invermere is a community in eastern British Columbia, Canada, near the border of Alberta. It is the hub of the Columbia Valley between Golden to the north and Cranbrook to the south. The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is the top international circuit of alpine skiing competitions, launched in 1966 by a group of ski racing friends and experts which included French journalist Serge Lang and the alpine ski team directors from France (Honore Bonnet) and the USA ( Bob Beattie). The Nor-Am Cup (North American Cup) is one of the tours of competitions organized by the International Ski Federation, and it takes place in North America. The Nor-Am Cup gives athletes who have qualified for these races the opportunity to compete against athletes from other countries. The equivalent tour in Europe is the Europa Cup, and, in Australia and New Zealand, there is the Australian and New Zealand Cup, where athletes from surrounding countries such as Japan compete. The 2006 Winter Olympics, officially the XX Olympic Winter Games ( it, XX Giochi olimpici invernali) and also known as Torino 2006, were a winter multi-sport event held from 10 to 26 February 2006 in Turin, Italy. This marked the second time Italy had hosted the Winter Olympics, the first being in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo; Italy had also hosted the Summer Olympics in 1960 in Rome. Turin was selected as the host city for the 2006 Games in June 1999. The official motto of Torino 2006 was "Passion lives here". The Games' logo depicted a stylized profile of the Mole Antonelliana building, drawn in white and blue ice crystals, signifying the snow and the sky.
