Christel-Goltz Prize
The Christel-Goltz Prize for voice has been awarded annually since 1992 until 2012 by the Foundation for the Promotion of the Semperoper. It was funded by soprano Christel Goltz. Semperoper
The Semperoper () is the opera house of the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (Saxon State Opera) and the concert hall of the Staatskapelle Dresden (Saxon State Orchestra). It is also home to the Semperoper Ballett. The building is located on the Theaterplatz near the Elbe River in the historic centre of Dresden, Germany. The opera house was originally built by the architect Gottfried Semper in 1841. After a devastating fire in 1869, the opera house was rebuilt, partly again by Semper, and completed in 1878. The opera house has a long history of premieres, including major works by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. Markus Butter
Markus Butter (born 1973) is an Austrian operatic baritone. Career Born in Bruck an der Mur, Butter was a member and soloist of the Vienna Boys' Choir from 1982 to 1986 and graduated in 1991 at the . He received his further education at the and from 1994 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Also in 1994 he began to work as an oratorio and lieder singer in Austria and Germany. From 1998 to 1999 he was a member of the Junge Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera and from 1999 he was a member of the Bavarian State Opera. Christoph Pohl is a German operatic baritone who has performed at major opera houses in Europe, based at the Semperoper in Dresden from 2005 to 2018. Career Pohl was a member of the Knabenchor Hannover, and then studied voice at the Musikhochschule Hannover with Carol Richardson-Smith. Anke Vondung (born in Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate in 1972), is a German mezzo-soprano. She was a member of the Semperoper Dresden from 2003 to 2006. Career She won third prize in the 1998 ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Christa Mayer
Christa Mayer is a German operatic mezzo-soprano. She is particularly known for her portrayal of Erda in Richard Wagner's ''Ring Cycle''; a role which she has performed several times at the Bayreuth Festival and recorded on the BBC Legends Record Label. Life and career Mayer was born in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Bavaria. After graduating from the Bavarian Academy of Singing, she pursued further studies at the Munich Academy of Music where she was a pupil of tenor Thomas Moser. Klaus Florian Vogt (born 12 April 1970) is a German operatic tenor. He has often sung roles written by Richard Wagner. Career Klaus Florian Vogt was a hornist first and played for several years with the Hamburg Philharmonic. He studied voice at the Lübeck Academy of Music and was first engaged at the Landestheater in Flensburg. In 1998 he moved to the Semperoper in Dresden, where he worked with Giuseppe Sinopoli and Colin Davis.
