Chris Stamey
Christopher Charles Stamey (born December 6, 1954) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. After a brief time playing with Alex Chilton, as well as Mitch Easter under the name Sneakers, Stamey formed The dB's with Peter Holsapple. Early life Stamey was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. He grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School. Career In 1977, Stamey founded the independent New York City record label, Car Records, which released the 1978 Chris Bell single with the tracks "I Am The Cosmos" and "You And Your Sister". Stamey recorded and released two critically acclaimed albums with The dB's, '' Stands for Decibels'' (1981) and '' Repercussion'' (1982), which were initially only released in the UK, before leaving the band to pursue a solo career. East Side Digital is a record label and distributor based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. History ESD was started and curated by Rob Simonds (who also created Rykodisc) in 1981 to import and distribute vinyl records on Japanese labels to record stores and other retailers. In 1982, ESD became one of the first U.S. distributors of compact discs, soon releasing records by rock and experimental performers on the ESD label. Subsequently, Ryko Distribution Partners took over ESD's distribution duties, allowing ESD to primarily be a record label. ''It's Alright'' is an album by the American musician Chris Stamey, released in 1987. Stamey supported it with a North American tour that included Alex Chilton on keyboards. ''It's Alright'' was expected to be somewhat of a mainstream success; it did not perform as well as envisioned, and Stamey was dropped from A&M Records two years after its release. Production "The Seduction" was inspired by Georges Seurat's ''A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte''. Yo La Tengo
Yo La Tengo (YLT; Spanish for "I have her") is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1984. Since 1992, the lineup has consisted of Ira Kaplan (guitars, piano, vocals), Georgia Hubley (drums, piano, vocals), and James McNew (bass, vocals). Mavericks is a collaborative album by the two original singer/songwriters of jangle pop band the dB's, Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey. It was originally released in 1991 on Rhino Records and was re-released on January 15, 2008 by Collectors' Choice Music. The reissue featured six previously unreleased tracks. The album is noted for having a more acoustic and slower sound than Holsapple and Stamey's work with the dB's. Critical reception Initial Upon its release, ''Mavericks'' received a very favorable review from Ira Robbins, who wrote in ''Entertainment Weekly'' that the album "resonates with emotional power." Robbins gave the album an A grade.
