Chris Malone
Christopher Malone (born 8 January 1978 in Sydney) is an Australian rugby union coach and a former professional player. Malone is currently an assistant coach with the NSW Waratahs. He was previously head coach of Sydney University and the Sydney Stars in Australia's National Rugby Championship. Malone began his rugby career as a fly-half in Sydney's Shute Shield competition and played in the English Premiership for ten years. Family and early life Chris Malone lived his early life in the small town of Coolah, New South Wales. He attended St. Stanislaus' College in Bathurst from 1990–95. Rugby career In Sydney, Malone started playing for the Manly club. He was selected for the Australian Under 19 and Under 21 representative teams. In 1999 he joined the Sydney University club as a 21-year-old and played 1st Grade from 1999 to 2001, captaining the club to their first premiership in 29 years in 2001. Fly-half (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and Line-out (rugby union), line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. Props push in the scrums, while the hooker tries to secure the ball for their team by "hooking" it back with their heel. Premiership Rugby, officially known as Gallagher Premiership Rugby, or the Gallagher Premiership for sponsorship reasons, is an English professional rugby union competition. The Premiership has consisted of thirteen clubs since 2021, and is the top division of the English rugby union system. Premiership clubs qualify for Europe's two main club competitions, the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. The winner of the second division, the RFU Championship is promoted to the Premiership and until 2020, the team finishing at the bottom of the Premiership each season was relegated to the Championship. Balmain RFC
The Balmain Rugby Football Club is an Australian rugby union football club, based in Balmain, Sydney, New South Wales. The original club established in 1873 is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Australia. Balmain was one of the founding members in 1874 of the Southern Rugby Union, later renamed the New South Wales Rugby Union, which was the first governing body for the sport in the Southern Hemisphere. Billy Murdoch, who would later go on to captain the Australian cricket team, was Balmain's first captain, and he represented the club at the Southern Rugby Union's formation. Over the years, Balmain has provided several players who have represented Australia in international rugby, including Bob Craig, Robert Graves, and Herbert Moran, who was captain of the 1908 Australian side and served as Balmain's president in 1911-12.
