Chris Brandt
Chris Brandt (born February 4, 1970) is an American filmmaker and cartoonist, director of the documentary " ''Independents''". Biography Brandt was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, the son of a U.S. diplomat, and spent his youth in several countries. He studied at the University of Maryland and UC Santa Cruz. In 1993, after graduating college, he pursued cartooning on his own, eventually becoming associated with the comic book co-op Puppy Toss in Berkeley, California, and creating the ''Artfly'' mini-comics series with fellow cartoonist Jesse Reklaw. He turned his attentions to film making and video in 2000, creating the celebrated '' Dance, Voldo, Dance'' in 2003, the award-winning short film ''Closing Time'' in 2005, and the critically acclaimed feature documentary ''Independents'' in 2007. Silver Spring, Maryland
Silver Spring is a census-designated place (CDP) in southeastern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, near Washington, D.C. Although officially unincorporated, in practice it is an edge city, with a population of 81,015 at the 2020 census, making it the fifth-most populous place in Maryland after Baltimore, Columbia, Germantown, and Waldorf. Downtown, next to the northern tip of Washington, D.C., is the oldest and most urbanized part of the community, surrounded by several inner suburban residential neighborhoods inside the Capital Beltway. Many mixed-use developments combining retail, residential, and office space have been built since 2004. Silver Spring takes its name from a mica-flecked spring discovered there in 1840 by Francis Preston Blair, who subsequently bought much of the surrounding land. This is a list of film festivals dedicated to machinima, the use of real-time 3-D engines in filmmaking. The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences (AMAS) regularly holds such festivals, and recognizes exemplary machinima works through awards nicknamed the Mackies. Machinima, originally machinema () is the use of real-time computer graphics engines to create a cinematic production. Most often, video games are used to generate the computer animation. The word "machinima" is a portmanteau of the words ''machine'' and ''cinema''. Machinima-based artists, sometimes called machinimists or machinimators, are often fan laborers, by virtue of their re-use of copyrighted materials (see below). Paul Dinello
Paul E. Dinello (born November 28, 1962) is an American comedian, actor, and writer, best known for his collaborations with Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris. He portrayed Geoffrey Jellineck on Comedy Central's ''Strangers with Candy'', and later became a writer and supervising producer for ''The Colbert Report'' and then ''The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.''
