Chochukmo
Chochukmo () is a 5-piece indie rock band based in Hong Kong, with Jan Curious on vocal, Mike Orange on guitar and synthesizer, Les Hunter on guitar, Fai on bass, and Kitty Trouble on drums and percussion. Formed in the summer of 2005, the band has experienced a few member changes, with the current line-up formed in the spring of 2008. The band's sound is always being described as a genre-blender, experimenting rock with some other different styles of music. The band is generally being categorized as indie rock while some considered the band's style as math rock. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Ellen Joyce Loo
Ellen Joyce Loo Hoi Tung (; 27 March 1986 – 5 August 2018) was a Canadian-Hong Kong musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. She was the guitarist, backing vocalist and a co-founder of the folk-pop rock group at17. Early life Loo was born in Toronto, Canada, on March 27, 1986. At age 4, she moved to Hong Kong. She learned classical guitar from her father at the age of nine. At age 14, she and her older brother, P. J. Loo, entered the musical competition "Original Music 2000" (原音2000), which was held by Tom Lee Music in Hong Kong. They won third prize in the competition. Personal life Loo was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2013, and made her first public statement regarding the disorder in April 2015. Noughts And Exes
Noughts and Exes was a Hong Kong-based six-piece indie folk rock band formed by singer and guitarist Joshua Wong that also included Gideon So, Alex Bedwell, Winnie "Wizza" Lau, Winnie "Bago" Lau, and Alix Farquhar. The group released three studio albums between 2007 and 2015, two of which were mixed by double-platinum producer Kelvin Avon. The group was known for their innovative music videos, one of which was featured in the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Steve Wong Ka Keung (; born 13 November 1964) is a Hong Kong musician, singer, songwriter and the bassist for the rock band Beyond. He is also younger brother of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Wong Ka Kui, who died in 1993. Denise Ho
Denise Ho Wan-see (born 10 May 1977) is a Hong Kong-based Cantopop singer and actress. She is also a pro-democracy and Hong Kong human rights activist. In 2012, Ho came out as lesbian, the first mainstream Cantonese singer to do so. In 2014, Ho was blacklisted by the Chinese government and by the luxury brand Lancome for her participation in the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong. Ho is a Canadian citizen.
