Chirpynirdi Gara Deniz
“Chirpynirdi gara deniz” ( az, Çırpınırdı Qara dəniz) is a song written in 1918 by the Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov on the lyrics of the poet Ahmed Javad. The song is very popular in Turkey. In Azerbaijan, the song is especially popular in the performance of Azerin, a People's Artist of the Azerbaijan Republic. Song’s history Excited by the participation of the Ottoman Turkey in the First World War, the Azerbaijani poet Ahmed Javad wrote, in December 1914, the poem "The Black Sea raged". In 1918, Uzeyir Hajibeyov wrote the music to the poet's lyrics. However, after 1920, the song was not performed in Azerbaijan. Due to the fact that there were no notes, the song was almost forgotten. Despite this, the song gained popularity in Turkey, being played on radio and television, at official events and banquets. Ahmad Javad
Ahmad Javad ( az, Əhməd Məhəmmədəli oğlu Cavad; May 5, 1892 – October 13, 1937) was an Azerbaijani poet who is best known for writing the words of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan used under the 1918–1920 Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, and again since 1991, and another poem named Chirpynirdi gara deniz. Biography Ahmad Javad Akhundzade was born on May 5, 1892, in the village Seyfali of Shamkir rayon. He got his primary education at home, learning Turkish, Persian, Arabic and Eastern literature. In 1912 after graduating from a religious seminary in Ganja he worked as a teacher. During the Balkan war he fought on the Turkish side in a detachment of volunteers from the Caucasus. He published the poetry books "Goshma" (1916) and "Dalga" (1919). In 1918 at the suggestion of Mammed Amin Rasulzade he joined the Musavat Party and from 1920 to 1923 he was a member of its Central Committee, for which he was arrested in 1923 and later freed. Uzeyir Hajibeyov's House Museum
Uzeyir Hajibeyov's House Museum is the house in which the famous Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov lived, located on Shamil Azizbekov Street near the Nizami metro station. The museum was created to perpetuate and propagate the life and work of composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov. The Memorial Museum is under the control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan. History The museum was created in 1975 on the initiative of the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Azerbaijan SSR Heydar Aliyev. The composer lived in this house from 1915 to 1942. The museum consists of 4 rooms, a glass-lounge, a cinema hall, an exhibition hall and an administrative unit. Daughter of the mountains – Reyhan ( az, Dağlar qızı Reyhan) is an Azerbaijani folk song. History According to the legend, the song sings about Reyhan, who defeated the Dashnaks in Gelingaya in Guba. During the March 1918 genocide, the Dashnaks attack an Azerbaijani wedding and kill the groom; the bride runs and hides in the mountains. Later, having gathered a detachment, the bride named Reyhan defeats the Dashnaks. In 1928, she was arrested, however she escaped. Then she lived her life in a monastery under a false name. Performance In 1959, Fikret Amirov composed the music for the poem "Daughter of the mountains - Reyhan". According to one version, the words of the song belong to the poet Talat Eyyubov. In 1960, the song was firstly performed by the People's Artist of the USSR Rashid Behbudov, but the most famous performance belongs to the People's Artist Zeynab Khanlarova. Abulfaz Elchibey ( az, Əbülfəz Elçibəy; 24 June 1938, in Nakhchivan – 22 August 2000, in Ankara) was an Azerbaijani political figure and a former Soviet dissident. His real name was Abulfaz Gadirgulu oghlu Aliyev (Azerbaijani: ''Əbülfəz Qədirqulu oğlu Əliyev''), but he assumed the nickname of "Elçibəy" (Azerbaijani for the "''noble messenger''") upon his leadership of the Azerbaijani Popular Front in 1990. The Hajibeyov Baku Academy of Music (Azeri: ''Hacıbəyov adına Bakı Musiqi Akademiyası'') is a music school in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was established in 1920 in Baku and was previously known as the Hajibeyov Azerbaijan State Conservatoire. History In 1920, Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov began a movement aimed at propagating classical music among the people. His report presented at the Azerbaijani People's Commissariat of Education (early Soviet analogue of a Ministry of Education) offering the establishment of a high-level music education institution resulted in the approval of his proposal. Thus, the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire was founded on 25 May 1920. Hajibeyov became one of its first instructors. In the 1920s, he established the Oriental Department, where Azeri folk music was taught both traditionally (orally) and by European methods, i.e., using notes.
