Chiro (woreda)
Nannawa Chiro is a Districts of Ethiopia, Aanaa in Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Part of the West Hararghe Zone, Chiro is bordered on the south by Kuni (woreda), Kuni, on the west by Guba Koricha, on the northwest by Mieso, Oromia (woreda), Mieso, on the north by Doba (woreda), Doba, on the northeast by Tulo, and on the east by the Galetti River which separates it from Mesela (woreda), Mesela and the East Hararghe Zone. It is part of former Chiro district what was divided for Nannawa Chiro and Gemechis districts and Chiro Town. The highest peak in Chiro is Mount Arba Gugu (3574 meters). Khat is an important cash crop of this district, but because it is a very perishable commodity and must be cultivated not too far from major markets or good roads, it is grown along the main road. Coffee is another important cash crop, with over 5,000 hectares is planted with this crop. Oromia
Oromia (Amharic: ) ( om, Oromiyaa) is a regional state in Ethiopia and the homeland of the Oromo people. The capital of Oromia is Addis Ababa. It is bordered by the Somali Region to the east; the Amhara Region, the Afar Region and the Benishangul-Gumuz Region to the north; Dire Dawa to the northeast; the South Sudanese state of Upper Nile, Gambela Region, South West Ethiopia Region, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region and Sidama Region to the west; the Eastern Province of Kenya to the south; as well as Addis Ababa as an enclave surrounded by a Special Zone in its centre and the Harari Region as an enclave surrounded by East Hararghe in its east. Gemechis
Gamachis is one of the Districts in the Oromia Regional State of Ethiopia. It is part of the West Hararghe Zone. It was part of former Chiro. Today, the capital of the woreda is called Kuni. It is located 20 miles from Chiro. The city is located on the top of a hill and its climate is 70% cold and cloudy. Gemechis woreda has many small cities located 20–45 miles away from each other. Sogido, Sire, Metadhab, and Degaga are the major ones. Transportation for commuting is a major problem of the woreda. Demographics The 2007 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 184,238, of whom 93,766 were men and 90,472 women; 3,863 or 2.1% of its population were urban dwellers. Oromo Language
Oromo ( or ; Oromo: ''Afaan Oromoo''), in the linguistic literature of the early 20th century also called Galla (a name with a pejorative meaning and therefore rejected by the Oromo people), is an Afroasiatic language that belongs to the Cushitic branch. It is native to the Ethiopian state of Oromia and Northern Kenya and is spoken predominantly by the Oromo people and neighboring ethnic groups in the Horn of Africa. It is used as a lingua franca particularly in Ethiopia and northeastern Kenya. With more than 36 million speakers making up 33.8% of the total Ethiopian population, Oromo has the largest number of native speakers in Ethiopia, and ranks as the second most widely spoken language in Ethiopia by total number of speakers (including second-language speakers) following Amharic. Amhara People
Amharas ( am, አማራ, Āmara; gez, ዐምሐራ, ʾÄməḥära) are a Semitic-speaking ethnic group which is indigenous to Ethiopia, traditionally inhabiting parts of the northwest Highlands of Ethiopia, particularly inhabiting the Amhara Region. According to the 2007 national census, Amharas numbered 19,867,817 individuals, comprising 26.9% of Ethiopia's population, and they are mostly Oriental Orthodox Christian (members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church). They are also found within the Ethiopian expatriate community, particularly in North America. They speak Amharic, an Afro-Asiatic language of the Semitic branch which serves as one of the five official languages of Ethiopia.
