China Railways DF5
The Dongfeng 5, or DF5 for short, () is a diesel-electric locomotive used by China Railway in the People's Republic of China. It has been in production since 1976 and is still produced as of 2006 by several local companies. It is the most common road switcher in China and is used for yard and road switching duties. A small number are also in service with the Korean State Railway in North Korea. Description In 1975, to meet a need for new and more powerful switchers, the Tangshan Locomotive & Rolling Stock Works, the Dalian Locomotive Works and the Dalian Locomotive Research Institute began a cooperative development effort on a new engine based on the 16V240ZJ diesel engine used in the Dongfeng 4, to be used in the development of a new locomotive, the DF5. Namyang Workers' District
Namyang Workers' District (남양로동자구) is a town in Onsong, North Hamgyong, North Korea. It lies on the Tumen River and opposite to the city of Tumen that stands in the Chinese bank of the river. Transportation Most of the movement in the town is made by trucks and bicycles. The town is also served by Namyang Station on the Hambuk Line of the Korean State Railway. The China Railway Museum () is a Chinese museum preserving locomotives that have operated on the railways of the People's Republic of China. The museum offers a total exhibition space of 16500m² and 8 exhibition tracks. The museum is located in Chaoyang District of Beijing City, some 15 km northeast of downtown Beijing, inside the circular test track that is part of the China National Railway Test Centre.
