Chile Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Chile men's national field hockey team represents Chile in men's international field hockey competitions and is controlled by the Federación Chilena de Hockey Sobre Césped. It is affiliated with the International Hockey Federation and the Pan American Hockey Federation. Hockey arrived in Chile in the mid-20th century. Chile has never qualified for the Hockey World Cup until 2021, but it has had success at the youth level, as in Versailles 1979. In the Pan American Games, Chile has been present in all years except the year 1967, obtaining a 3rd-place finish in 1983, 2007, 2011 and 2015. By reaching the final of the 2022 Men's Pan American Cup, they qualified for the 2023 World Cup where they will be making their World Cup debut. Federación Chilena De Hockey Sobre Césped
The Chilean Field Hockey Federation ( es, Federación Chilena de Hockey Sobre Césped), is the governing body of field hockey in Chile. It is based in Santiago, was founded in 1981 by Rodolfo Westendarp, however, since 1962 field hockey in Chile was practiced at events in the city of Viña del Mar by British immigrants. 2007 Pan American Games
The 2007 Pan American Games, officially known as the XV Pan American Games, were a major continental multi-sport event that took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13 to 29, 2007. A total of 5,633 athletes from 42 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competed in 332 events in 34 sports and in 47 disciplines. During the Games, 95 new Pan American records were set; 2,196 medals were awarded; 1,262 doping control tests were performed and about 15,000 volunteers participated in the organization of the event, which was an Olympic qualification for 13 International Federations (IFs). Rio de Janeiro was awarded the Games over San Antonio, Texas, United States, on August 24, 2002, having won an absolute majority of votes (30–21) from the 51 members of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) in the first round of voting during the XL PASO General Assembly held in Mexico City, Mexico. 2003 Men's South American Hockey Championship
The 2003 Men's South American Hockey Championship was the first edition of the Men's South American Hockey Championship, the South American championship for men's national field hockey teams, organized by the PAHF. It was held from 16 until 23 March 2003 in Santiago, Chile. Argentina won the first edition by finishing first in the round-robin tournament. As winners, Argentina qualified for the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. 2022 South American Games
The XII South American Games (Spanish: ''XII Juegos Suramericanos Asunción 2022'') was a multi-sport event held between 1–15 October 2022 in Asunción, Paraguay. The Games were organized by the South American Sports Organization, the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the government of the Republic of Paraguay and the local Secretaria Nacional de Deportes, National Secretary of Sports. Bidding process The city of Asunción, capital of Paraguay, announced its interest in hosting the 2022 South American Games. 2018 South American Games
The 2018 South American Games was a multi-sport event that took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia. It was the 11th edition of the ODESUR South American Games. A total of 373 sporting events are scheduled to be contested across a variety of sports. Background Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru submitted a bid to ODESUR to become host. The men's and women's field hockey competitions at the 2014 South American Games were the second inclusion of hockey at the South American Games. Both tournaments were held in conjunction with one another between 8 and 16 March 2014 at Club Deportivo Manquehue in Santiago, Chile. In the men's tournament, Argentina won the gold medal for the second time by defeating Chile 8–1 in the final. Venezuela won the bronze medal by defeating Brazil 3–2 in the bronze-medal match. The VIII South American Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Sudamericanos''; Portuguese: ''Jogos Sul-Americanos'') were a multi-sport event held from 9 to 19 November 2006 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with some events taking place in Mar del Plata (canoeing, cycling, futsal, handball, roller sports, rowing, triathlon).
