Childress Independent School District is a public school district based in Childress, Texas (USA). Located in Childress County, small portions of the district extend into Cottle, Hall, and Hardeman counties. The current learning system for Childress is CSCOPE. Childress also participates in UIL activities. In 2009, the school district was rated " recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. On July 1, 1985, the Estelline Independent School District merged into Childress ISD. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is an organization that creates rules for and administers almost all athletic, musical, and academic contests for public primary and secondary schools in the U.S. state of Texas. It is the largest organization of its type in the world. Activities range from American football and cross-examination debate to mathematics and marching band competitions; however, the UIL does not administer Academic Decathlon competitions. The UIL is under the governance of the Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas.
