Chief Scout Executive
The Chief Scout Executive is the top professional of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In most similar non-profit organizations, this is equivalent to the position of CEO, national executive director or secretary general. Roger Mosby is the current Chief Scout Executive, succeeding Michael B. Surbaugh in December 2019. Mosby was initially title President and CEO (not being a professional Scouter), however in May 2021 Mosby received a commission as a professional Scouter and was appointed to the Chief Scout Executive position in May 2021. This position should not be confused with the position of Chief Scout. Many National Scout associations still use this position; however, it is always for a volunteer position, not a paid one. Boy Scouts Of America
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA, colloquially the Boy Scouts) is one of the largest scouting organizations and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with about 1.2 million youth participants. The BSA was founded in 1910, and since then, about 110 million Americans have participated in BSA programs. BSA is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922. Joseph Brunton
Joseph A. Brunton Jr. (June 26, 1902 – July 8, 1988) was a career professional for the Boy Scouts of America, and served the BSA National Council as the fourth Chief Scout Executive from 1960 to 1966. Alpha Phi Omega (), commonly known as APO, but also A-Phi-O and A-Phi-Q, is a coeducational service fraternity. It is the largest collegiate fraternity in the United States, with chapters at over 350 campuses, an active membership of over 25,000 students, and over 500,000 alumni members. Perry, also known as pear cider, is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented pears, traditionally the perry pear. Wayne Brock (born 1948) is a professional scouter, who served as the 12th Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America from 2012 to 2015. He had previously served as deputy Chief Scout Executive from 2009 to 2012. Biography Brock attended South Lenoir High School and graduated in 1966, receiving his Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Carolina University. Roy Williams (born 1944) is the former Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America. He is the tenth person to hold that position, serving between 2000–2007. Scouting career Selected in the spring of 2000 as Chief Scout Executive, Roy Williams began his career with the Boy Scouts of America as a district executive in Fort Worth, Texas. Jere Brian Ratcliffe (July 4, 1937 – August 21, 2015) was a professional Scouter in the Boy Scouts of America who was the ninth Chief Scout Executive. Background Ratcliffe was born on July 4, 1937 and grew up in Springfield, Ohio, where he met his wife, the former Judy Jones. He was awarded Eagle Scout in 1955 and as an adult was presented with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
