Brian Moore (rugby League)
Brian "Chicka" Moore (19 April 1944 – 26 October 2014) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. Playing career Moore played in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for Newtown from 1962 to 1973 - scoring 90 tries during his long and successful career. He represented New South Wales in 1963, 1965 and 1970. He also represented Australia, touring Great Britain and France with the 1967/68 Kangaroos, playing 11 minor tour matches but no tests. During the 1970s Moore captain-coached in the Newcastle Rugby League with the Macquarie United club. Charles Lawrence "Chicka" Cahill (28 January 1916 – 14 July 2007) was an Australian premiership-winning rugby league footballer. He played in the forwards for the Newtown club in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership from 1941 to 1947. Playing career Born in Wickham, New South Wales, Cahill's first senior football was played in the Newcastle Rugby League with the Northern Suburbs club. He came to Sydney during WWII joining Newtown from the 1941 season. Cahill first enjoyed premiership success in the 1943 season with Newtown. His good form continued in the 1944 season, as he helped Newtown become minor premiers and runners-up. In the 1945 season Cahill was the competition's top try-scorer. He also represented New South Wales in the 1940s and was probably denied international representative honours due to the war. Chicka Dixon
Charles "Chicka" Dixon (5 May 1928 – 10 March 2010) was an Australian Aboriginal activist and leader. He was active in campaigns around the 1967 referendum and the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, dedicating his life to the fight for basic human rights and justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In 1970 Dixon was instrumental in establishing Australia's first Aboriginal Legal Service in Redfern; he co-founded the Tent Embassy in Canberra in 1972. He was the first Aboriginal person to be appointed as a Councillor on the Australia Council and is a former Chairman of the Council's Aboriginal Arts Board. In 1983 Dixon was named the first Aboriginal of the Year. Dixon attended his first political meeting on his 18th birthday in 1946. John Ferguson (rugby League)
John "Chicka" Ferguson (born 15 July 1954) is an Indigenous Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s. An Australian international and New South Wales State of Origin representative winger, in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership for the Newtown Jets, Eastern Suburbs Roosters and finally the Canberra Raiders, with whom he won the 1989 and 1990 NSWRL premierships. A prolific try-scorer, who topped the NSWRL's scoring list in 1988, Ferguson also played in England with Wigan, helping them to victory in the 1985 Challenge Cup Final. He has since been named in Australia's indigenous team of the century (1908–2008). Playing career Ferguson played at South Grafton Rebels as a junior and then as a first grader from 1972 to 1975. Charles Kell
Charles Joseph Kell (1905-1964) was an Australian rugby league player who played in the 1920s. Playing career Charles 'Chick' Kell was a Newtown half-back that played nine season for the club between 1920 and 1928. 'Chick' Kell began his long career at the Camperdown Dragons junior club and made his way into grade in 1919. In 1927, a press report described him as "Newtown's longest serving player even though he only in his mid twenties". He was also described, along with South Sydney halfback 'Micky' O'Connor, as "the smallest player in first grade league football." After captaining the Newtown club on numerous occasions during his long career, 'Chick' Kell retired after the 1928 season due to injuries.
