Chicago Freeze
The Chicago Freeze was a Tier II junior A ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's West Division. The team was originally the Detroit Freeze until it relocated to a Chicago suburb of Geneva. The Chicago Freeze played out of the Fox Valley Ice Arena, which later became home to the Chicago Hitmen of the NAHL. Geneva, Illinois
Geneva is a city in and the county seat of Kane County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the western side of the Chicago suburbs. Per the 2020 census, the population was 21,393. Geneva is part of a tri-city area, located between St. Charles and Batavia. North American Hockey League
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 48th season of operation in 2022–23. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative to the Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas. The teams span the United States from Maine in the East to Alaska in the Northwest and to Texas in the South. The teams play a 60-game regular season, starting in mid-September and ending in early April. The top teams of the NAHL playoffs meet in a predetermined location to play in the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament. Fox Valley Ice Arena
Fox Valley Ice Arena is a public skating facility offering basic to advanced skating lessons for both figure skating and hockey. In addition, it is home to the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League. It contains two rinks: one measures 200' x 85' (the size of a National Hockey League rink) and the other 200' x 100' (an international-size rink). The arena is also an official rink partner of the Chicago Blackhawks. Fox Valley Ice Arena has a full service fitness facility on the premise, and a restaurant, Chelios Pub and Grill. Junior Ice Hockey
Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country. Chicago Hitmen
The Chicago Hitmen were a Junior A Tier II ice hockey team based out of the Chicago region. NAHL team history The Chicago Hitmen played in the North American Hockey League from 2010 to 2012. The team first played in the 1,000-seat West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. On June 4, 2010, the team announced that Steve Pronger was signed as head coach, coming to the Hitmen after serving as the head coach of the Chicago Blaze of the AAHL. Pronger was replaced prior to the 2011–12 season by Brent Agrusa. The team also relocated to the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, Illinois on a five-year lease. During the 2011–12 season, the Hitmen were reportedly locked out of the Fox Valley Ice Arena due to unpaid bills. The team and arena management came to short agreement to finish out the season but when the season was complete, the arena took the Hitmen owner ship to court over $100,000 in disputed charges. Craig Anderson (ice Hockey)
Craig Peter Anderson (born May 21, 1981) is an Americans, American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played with the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators, and Washington Capitals. Internationally, Anderson has represented the United States men's national ice hockey team, United States on multiple occasions. At 41 years of age, he is the oldest active goalie in the NHL, and the last to have been originally drafted in the 1990s. Jason Bacashihua
Jason Bacashihua (born September 20, 1982) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who last played for Manchester Storm in the UK Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He has played in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues, various teams in the AHL and ECHL, HC 05 Banská Bystrica of the Slovak Extraliga, and High1 in Asia League Ice Hockey. Playing career Bacashihua was selected in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, 26th overall. Christopher Ryan Conner (born December 23, 1983) is an American former professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Early life Conner grew up in Westland, Michigan and attended Churchill High School in Livonia, Michigan. He lived in the same neighbourhood as current Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Kesler, and the two grew up together playing hockey since childhood. George Parros
George James Parros (born December 29, 1979) is an American former professional ice hockey player who played nine seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), who currently serves as the head of the NHL's Department of Player Safety, with the title of senior vice president of player safety. In this role Parros is tasked with determining the suspensions or fines handed out for various on-ice incidents in the NHL. His primary role on the ice was that of an enforcer.
