Chesterville Brick House
Chesterville Brick House, also known as Goodings Store, Isaac Spencer House and Salter House, is a historic home and former commercial building located at Chesterville, Kent County, Maryland, United States. It is a -story brick building, thought to have been built about 1773. The building has changed ownership many times. It was originally located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Maryland Route 447 (now Maryland Route 444) and Maryland Route 290, abandoned in 1970, and vandalized prior to being moved in 1973; approximately 250 feet from its original site. Kent County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 census, its population was 19,198, making it the least populous county in Maryland. Its county seat is Chestertown. The county was named for the county of Kent in England. The county is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Maryland Route 444 (MD 444) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from Maryland Route 290, MD 290 in Chesterville, Maryland, Chesterville north to Belchester Road in Kentmore Park, Maryland, Kentmore Park. MD 444 connects Chesterville and Kentmore Park with Maryland Route 213, MD 213 at Locust Grove, Maryland, Locust Grove in northern Kent County, Maryland, Kent County. The highway was constructed south from Locust Grove in the early 1930s and extended north to Kentmore Park in the early 1940s. MD 444 bypassed Locust Grove in the late 1960s. Maryland Route 290 (MD 290) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from MD 300 at Dudley Corners north to MD 299 near Sassafras. MD 290 roughly parallels U.S. Route 301 (US 301), which it intersects twice, as it connects the communities of Crumpton in northern Queen Anne's County and Chesterville and Galena in eastern Kent County. The portion of the route in Queen Anne's County was constructed as MD 301 in the early to mid-1920s. In Kent County, a portion south of Galena was built in the late 1910s and extended south to the Chester River in the late 1920s. MD 290 assumed the course of MD 301 in 1940 to avoid a number conflict with US 301. The Galena–Sassafras section of the highway was built in the late 1940s.
