Cherry Alive
''Cherry Alive'' is the second and final studio album by American alternative rock band Eve's Plum. It was released in 1995 on 550 Records. The album's first single, "Jesus Loves You (Not As Much As I Do)", failed to gain interest from mainstream radio and the album failed to chart when it was released. The second single, "Wishing the Day Away", was released to radio without a music video to accompany it and failed to chart as well. The third and final single, the album's title track, gained some airplay on college radio, but still failed to chart. Sony/550 dropped the band, who split three years later. Production ''Cherry Alive'' was recorded in New York City, in the same building that housed Studio 54. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that the band "drops the corrosive angst on the lean and less mean ''Cherry Alive'', opting instead for clean pop songwriting and svelte rock guitars. Eve's Plum
Eve's Plum was an American New York City-based rock band, active in the 1990s. The band was fronted by Colleen Fitzpatrick, who was later known by the stage name Vitamin C. Eve's Plum released two albums and seven singles on 550 Music/ Epic Records, before breaking up in 1998. Formation In 1991, Ben Kotch who played drums, and his twin brother Michael who played guitar, had been looking to start a band and needed a singer and bassist. Michael Kotch met Colleen Fitzpatrick while both were in school at New York University, she became the group's singer and together they formed the group Eve's Plum. Chris Giammalvo joined the band on bass guitar. He would later be replaced on bass by Theo Mack in 1994. Fred Maher
Frederick J. Maher is an American drummer, music programmer and record producer. He was a member of the bands Massacre (1980–81), the Dance, Material, Scritti Politti, and has recorded and toured with Lou Reed. In 1984 he released ''Basic'', an instrumental collaboration album with ex- Voidoids guitarist Robert Quine. Maher's credits as a producer include Lou Reed's ''New York'' (1989), Trip Shakespeare's ''Across the Universe'' (1990), Matthew Sweet's ''Girlfriend'' (1991), Information Society's self-titled album (1988, which achieved platinum sales status), their 1990 album ''Hack'', and a track on 1997's '' Don't Be Afraid''. ''Envy'' is the debut studio album by American band Eve's Plum. It was released on August 31, 1993, on 550 Records. Before it was released, the debut single, "Blue," was promoted on MTV, appearing on an episode of ''Beavis and Butthead''. However, the single and album failed to chart. The second single, "Die Like Someone," was released in a censored version the following year and also failed to chart. The third single, "I Want It All," became the band's only single to chart, peaking at number 30 on the Modern Rock Chart. However, the album still failed to chart, and promotion for the album was halted. Studio 54
Studio 54 is a Broadway theater and a former disco nightclub at 254 West 54th Street in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Operated by the Roundabout Theatre Company, Studio 54 has 1,006 seats on two levels. The theater was designed by Eugene De Rosa for producer Fortune Gallo and opened in 1927 as the Gallo Opera House. The current Broadway theater is named after a nightclub on the same site, founded by Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, which operated within the theater's space in the late 1970s and the 1980s.
