Chereti (woreda)
Chereti or Weyib is one of the Districts of Ethiopia, woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia, named after its major town, Melka Chireti, Ethiopia, Melka Chireti. Part of the Afder Zone, Chereti is bordered on the southwest by the Ganale Dorya River which separates it from the Liben Zone, on the west by Goro Bekeksa, on the north by Elekere, on the east by Afder (woreda), Afder, and on the southeast by Dolobay. Overview The altitude of this woreda ranges from 750 to 1700 meters above sea level. Other rivers in Chereti include the Mena River, Mena and the Weyib River, Weyib. , Chereti has 62 kilometers of all-weather gravel road and 440 kilometers of community roads; in which around 8.69% of the total population has access to drinking water. Flooding was reported in Chereti in May 2006, which destroyed around 9 villages and displaced more than 870 households. More than 4,500 shoats were also reported drowned by the flooding. The Ganale Doria River ( so, Webiga Janaale) (also transliterated as Genale Dorya) is a perennial river in southeastern Ethiopia. Rising in the mountains east of Aleta Wendo, the Ganale flows south and east to join with the Dawa River, Dawa at the border with Somalia to become the Jubba River, Jubba. Goro Bakaksa is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Liban Zone, Goro Bekeksa is bounded on the south by the Ganale Dorya River which separates it from the Liben Zone, on the west by Guradamole, on the north by the Oromia Region, on the northeast by Elekere, and on the southeast by Cherti. Elekere (also transliterated El Kere) or Serer is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Elekere is bordered on the southeast by Afder, on the southwest by Cherti, on the west by Goro Bekeksa, on the north by Mirab Imi, and on the east by Gode Zone. Afder (woreda)
Afder is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Afder is bordered on the south by Dolobay, on the west by Jerti (woreda)Jarreti, on the north by Elkere, on the west by the Gode Zone, and on the southeast by Barrey. Towns in Afder include Gud'usbo and Hargele. History The population of Afder was around 1,521,100. It was the starting point of the Bale revolt. Gebru Tareke dates its initial act to June 1963, when Kahin Abdi, a bandit known for harboring Somali nationalist sentiments, openly defied the government by "becoming an outlaw of the Robin Hood type." In September, his armed band burned the small salt mine in the district, then two months later besieged Hargele for two days. Dolobay ( so, Dolobeey) is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Dolobay is bordered on the south by the Provisional Administrative Line with Somalia, on the west by the Ganale Dorya River which separates it from the Liben Zone, on the northwest by Cherti, on the north by Afder, and on the east by Bare.
