Chemapol Trophy Czech Open
The Czech Open was a professional golf tournament on the European Tour which was held annually in the Czech Republic. The tournament first appeared on the European Tour schedule between 1994 and 1997 as the Chemapol Trophy Czech Open, and was the first European Tour event staged east of the former Iron Curtain after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The first three of those events were held at the Golf Club Mariánské Lázně in Mariánské Lázně, before moving to the Prague Karlstein Golf Club, overlooked by Karlštejn Castle, just outside Prague. Germany's former World Number 1 Bernhard Langer was much the most distinguished of the four champions. Following flood disasters in the Czech Republic in 1997, the Czech Open in the following year was canceled at the request of the sponsors, and lost its place on the European Tour schedule as a result. Alps Tour
The Alps Tour is a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco. Established in 2001, it is a third level tour, the highest level of men's golf in Europe being the European Tour, and the second level being the Challenge Tour. Other third level tours in Europe include the United Kingdom-based PGA EuroPro Tour, the Germany-based Pro Golf Tour, and the Nordic League in the Nordic countries. Beginning in July 2015, the four third-level tours will carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Like the other third-tier European tours, the top ten players on the Order of Merit are exempt through the second stage of European Tour Qualifying School, and the top five win playing privileges on the Challenge Tour. Oskar Henningsson
Oskar Karl Henningsson (born 10 August 1985) is a Swedish professional golfer. Henningsson was born in Eksjö and later moved to Gränna. He turned professional in 2004. Henningsson reached the final stage of the European Tour Qualifying School in 2004 to gain a place on the second tier Challenge Tour for 2005. He had little success, and lost his playing status after just two seasons. Having mostly played in minor tournaments in Sweden for two years, he returned to the qualifying school at the end of 2008. He came out with the number one card for the European Tour, becoming the first player ever to be medalist at qualifying school having gone through all three stages. In 2009, Henningsson won his first European Tour title at the Moravia Silesia Open in the Czech Republic. 2009 European Tour
The 2009 European Tour was the 38th series of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. There were major changes for the 2009 season as the tour entered a partnership agreement with Dubai based Leisurecorp. The Order of Merit was renamed the Race to Dubai with the addition of a new season ending tournament, the Dubai World Championship, being contested by the leading 60 players after the penultimate event for a US$7.5 million prize fund and a US$7.5 million bonus pool. The season began with five events in late 2008 and consisted of 54 official money tournaments. This was an increase of four from the previous year, although three events were ultimately cancelled, and included the four major championships and four World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 14 in Asia, 6 in the United States, 3 in South Africa and 3 in Australia. Peter Lawrie
Peter Lawrie (born 22 March 1974) is an Irish professional golfer. Early life Lawrie was born in Dublin and educated at Terenure College and University College Dublin, where he took up a golf scholarship. He won the 1996 Irish Amateur Close Championship and turned professional in 1997. Professional career It took him several years to get a card on the European Tour. He finished fourth on the Challenge Tour Rankings in 2002, including a victory in the Challenge Tour Grand Final. This earned him a European Tour card for the first time. Lawrie credited much of this success to the help of swing coach, Brendan McDaid. Lawrie had a solid debut season on the European Tour 2003 season and also became the first Irishman to be named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Gary Boyd (golfer)
Gary Stuart Boyd (born 4 October 1986) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the Challenge Tour. Boyd was born in Banbury, England and attended Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney. He turned professional in 2007. Boyd had a strong start to the 2009 Challenge Tour season, recording his first win at the Tusker Kenya Open. He followed that by finishing as runner-up to Edoardo Molinari at the Piemonte Open, to lead the Challenge Tour Rankings at the end of May. He had a good first season on the European Tour in 2010, the highlight being a runner-up finish at the Czech Open and he finished 50th on the Order of Merit. However after a poor 2012 season he lost his full playing rights on tour. Peter Hanson
Peter Daniel Hanson (born 4 October 1977) is a Swedish former professional golfer who played on the European Tour and has played on the PGA Tour. Early life Hanson was born in Svedala, in Skåne county in the south of Sweden. He was first introduced to the game by neighbors and started playing at Bokskogen Golf Club, where he was coached by club professional Jan Larsson. Amateur career Hanson was a member of the Swedish team at age 19, finishing fourth, at the 1997 European Amateur Team Championship at Portmarnock Golf Club, Ireland. As an amateur, he won three times on the professional Swedish Golf Tour in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, he also won the Brabazon Trophy at Formby Golf Club. 2010 European Tour
The 2010 European Tour was the second edition of the Race to Dubai and the 39th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season consisted of 47 tournaments, beginning with two events in December 2009 and culminating with the Dubai World Championship the following November. The schedule included the four major championships, four World Golf Championships and the Ryder Cup. The Race to Dubai was won by Germany's Martin Kaymer. Kaymer and U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell from Northern Ireland shared the Golfer of the Year award. Mikael Lundberg
Lars Mikael Lundberg (born 13 August 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. He has won three times on the European Tour. Early life and amateur career Lundberg was born in Helsingborg, Sweden. He represented Sweden in the 1994 Eisenhower Trophy. Professional career Lundberg turned professional in 1995. He spent several years on the developmental Challenge Tour, where he was victorious in the 1997 Himmerland Open, and won a place on the main European Tour via a fourth-place finish on the 2000 Challenge Tour Rankings. After two steady seasons on tour, a 137th-place finish on the 2003 Order of Merit cost him his European Tour card and he returned to the Challenge Tour in 2004. The season began in December 2010 with the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa, and culminated with the Dubai World Championship the following December. The 2012 European Tour was the fourth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 41st season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season comprised 45 tournaments counting for the Race to Dubai, including the four major championships and four World Golf Championships, and one team competition. The season began in January with the Africa Open in South Africa, culminating with the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai in November.
