Chelsea Grin (EP)
''Chelsea Grin'' is the debut EP by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin. It was originally released as downloadable content through iTunes and later into Compact Disc format. It assisted in popularizing the band and is their only release through Statik Factory Records before switching to Artery Recordings the following year of its release. The songs "Cheyne Stokes" and "Recreant" were re-recorded for their debut full-length album, which was released in 2010. This is their only recording as 5 piece lineup before they switched to their signature 6 piece lineup by adding a third guitarist, which would last until 2018. In January 2015, the EP was reissued as a signed digipak and was made available on their online store. The release was limited to only 1,000 copies. Chelsea Grin
Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in 2007, the group have released two EPs and five full-length albums. Since 2018, no original members remain in the band. Chelsea Grin was originally founded under the name ''Ahaziah''. The lineup for Ahaziah included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena and lead guitarist Michael Stafford. Marticorena introduced Andrew Carlston to Chelsea Grin and assisted in rewriting their songs as well as the creation of new material as they changed the name to Chelsea Grin soon after. This writing process lead to the tracks on their first release, a self-titled EP that was streamed and released online through iTunes, then released on CD worldwide on July 27, 2008. Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore breakdowns. While there are some precursors to the concept of death metal fused with metalcore/hardcore elements seen in the 1990s, deathcore itself emerged in the early 2000s and gained prominence beginning in the mid-2000s within the southwestern United States, especially Arizona and inland southern California (mostly the Coachella Valley), which are home to many notable bands and various festivals. Desolation Of Eden
''Desolation of Eden'' is the debut studio album by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin. It was released February 16, 2010 through Artery Recordings. Upon its release, the album reached 21 on the Top Heatseekers chart. ''Desolation of Eden''at Billboard ''Desolation of Eden'' features two re-recordings of the songs "Cheyne Stokes" and "Recreant" which were originally on the band's self-titled EP. Style Alex Henderson of AllMusic described the style of music on the album as deathcore; a "noisy, caustic, abrasive mixture of metalcore and death metal."
