Chau Tau Station
Chau Tau (Chinese language, Chinese: 洲頭) is a proposed station in the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, a branch-off from East Rail line. The station will be situated at Chau Tau, near Lok Ma Chau, near the border between Yuen Long District, Yuen Long and North District, Hong Kong, North District in the New Territories, Hong Kong. However, according to the map in the 2011 MTR Annual Report, the Northern Link has adopted the design of having 2 termini to the north (like Tseung Kwan O line), terminating at both the present Lok Ma Chau station and the proposed Kwu Tung station, and Chau Tau Station was not shown on the map, meaning that this station might not be built. However, this station may still be built as an intermediate station on the Lok Ma Chau branch of both lines. North District, Hong Kong
North District () is the northernmost district of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in the northeastern part of the New Territories. The new town of Fanling–Sheung Shui is within this district. It had a population of 298,657 in 2001. The district has the second lowest population density in Hong Kong. Kwu Tung Station
Kwu Tung (Chinese: 古洞站) is a planned underground infill station on the Lok Ma Chau spur line of the of the MTR rapid transit network in Hong Kong. The station will be situated near Kwu Tung in North District, New Territories. It will act as the terminus of the proposed . History In 2001, KCR Corporation, then operator of the East Rail line (known then simply as "East Rail"), proposed a spur line that would reach the Lok Ma Chau checkpoint. A small area of land in Kwu Tung, an area in between Sheung Shui and Lok Ma Chau, was acquired by KCR for the construction of an underground station. When construction began in 2002, the length of the spur line was built using tunnel boring machines (TBMs) through Kwu Tung. Tseung Kwan O Line
The Tseung Kwan O line is one of the eleven lines of the MTR system in Hong Kong, indicated by the colour purple. It is currently long, taking 15 minutes to travel throughout the entire line. The line runs from North Point on the Hong Kong Island to the new town of Tseung Kwan O. It bifurcates east of Tseung Kwan O station into two branches, one northward to Po Lam and one southward to LOHAS Park. The Tseung Kwan O Depot at LOHAS Park is responsible for the maintenance of the line's rolling stock. The New Territories is one of the three main regions of Hong Kong, alongside Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. It makes up 86.2% of Hong Kong's territory, and contains around half of the population of Hong Kong. Chau Tau () is a village in the New Territories of Hong Kong, in the San Tin area of Yuen Long District. There is a new railway called the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line linking it to mainland China. It is near Lok Ma Chau. Its settlements are largely of the Man () clan. Administration Chau Tau is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy. Lok Ma Chau
Lok Ma Chau or Lokmachau is an area in Hong Kong's New Territories. It is the site of a major pedestrian (linked directly to the Hong Kong rapid transit network) and road border crossing point between Hong Kong and mainland China. Administratively, most of the Lok Ma Chau area is located within the Yuen Long District of Hong Kong. Geography Lok Ma Chau lies just south of the Sham Chun River (or Shenzhen River in Mandarin), which forms the border between Hong Kong and mainland China. East Rail Line
The East Rail line () is one of ten lines of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. It used to be one of the three lines of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR) network. It was known as the KCR British Section () from 1910 to 1996, and the KCR East Rail () from 1996 to 2007. East Rail was the only railway line of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) following the closure of the Sha Tau Kok Railway and before the construction of ''KCR West Rail'' (later renamed West Rail line, now part of the Tuen Ma line). Lok Ma Chau Spur Line
The Lok Ma Chau Spur Line is the second railway link between Hong Kong and Mainland China, relieving passenger congestion at Lo Wu station. The alignment branches off the existing MTR East Rail line north of Sheung Shui station and then runs to the Lok Ma Chau station where customs and immigration facilities are provided. The terminus is connected to Futian Checkpoint station (formerly named as Huanggang station) of the Shenzhen Metro Line 4 by a pedestrian bridge across the Shenzhen River. The KCRC has adopted a combined tunnel and viaduct scheme for the spur line.
