Charlton And Dack
Charlton and Dack is a municipality in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the Timiskaming District. Its population in 2016 was 686. The municipality was incorporated on January 1, 2003 by amalgamating the former village of Charlton with the former township of Dack. Geography Charlton and Dack is a small community located in North Eastern Ontario along Highway 11 and along the shoreline of Long Lake. The municipality, only a thirty-minute drive to either Temiskaming Shores and Kirkland Lake, is covered from one end to the other with forested rolling hills and fertile farmland. History The Town of Charlton began as a settlement on the banks of the Englehart River within the Township of Dack. The Town's development was influenced by the large expanses of timber in the area and saw mills were established as early as 1903. Ottawa Valley
The Ottawa Valley is the valley of the Ottawa River, along the boundary between Eastern Ontario and the Outaouais, Quebec, Canada. The valley is the transition between the Saint Lawrence Lowlands and the Canadian Shield. Because of the surrounding shield, the valley is narrow at its western end and then becomes increasingly wide (mainly on the Ontario side of the river) as it progresses eastward. Englehart (Canada 2016 Census population 1,479) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located on the Blanche River in the Timiskaming District. Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is located near the town of Englehart. History The Town of Englehart was created by the building of the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario (T & NO) Railway and named after Chairman Jacob Lewis Englehart. It was incorporated as the Town of Englehart in January 1908, as a half-way divisional point between North Bay, Ontario and what became Cochrane, Ontario, where the T & NO Railway met with the new Transcontinental Railway line (now the CNR) being built west from Quebec City across the north to the Western Provinces, creating the town of Cochrane. Chamberlain, Ontario
Chamberlain is a township in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the Timiskaming District. The rural township had a population of 332 in the Canada 2016 Census. Its primary named settlements are the communities of Chamberlain, Krugerdorf, and Wabewawa. History Nomadic people moved through the area 6,000 to 8,000 years ago. The area then became home to Algonquin people. European fur traders passed through the area beginning in the 1600s, likely following the Blanche River which flows through Chamberlain. The Province of Ontario surveyed large areas to the north and west of Lake Timiskaming in the 1880s, and in 1888 Chamberlain was surveyed into seventy-two lots. Land was open for settlement at the head of Lake Timiskaming in 1891, and by 1902-03 settlers had moved into Chamberlain. Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park
Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is a protected area in the incorporated townships of Charlton and Dack and Evanturel in Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Established in 1957, the park is located along the Englehart River, off Ontario Highway 11 about south of the town of Englehart. Kap-Kig-Iwan is classified as a Natural Environment park and is a provincial park of Ontario. Kap-Kig-Iwan has both electric and non-electric campsites. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022. About 900 supervisors and 31,000 field enumerators were hired to conduct the door-to-door survey of individuals and households who had not completed the census questionnaire by late May or early June. The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. The census, conducted by Statistics Canada, was Canada's seventh quinquennial census. The official census day was May 10, 2016. Census web access codes began arriving in the mail on May 2, 2016. The 2016 census marked the reinstatement of the mandatory long-form census, which had been dropped in favour of the voluntary National Household Survey for the 2011 census.
