Charles Scott (governor)
Charles Scott (April 1739October 22, 1813) was an American military officer and politician who served as the governor of Kentucky from 1808 to 1812. Orphaned in his teens, Scott enlisted in the Virginia Regiment in October 1755 and served as a scout and escort during the French and Indian War. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a captain. After the war, he married and engaged in agricultural pursuits on land left to him by his father, but he returned to active military service in 1775 as the American Revolution began to grow in intensity. In August 1776, he was promoted to colonel and given command of the 5th Virginia Regiment. The 5th Virginia joined George Washington in New Jersey later that year, serving with him for the duration of the Philadelphia campaign. Scott commanded Washington's light infantry, and by late 1778 was also serving as his chief of intelligence. Charles Fergus Buchan Scott (born 13 October 1999) is an English former first-class cricketer. Scott was born at Hemel Hempstead in October 1999. He was educated at St Albans School, before going up to Durham University. While studying at Durham, he played two first-class cricket matches for Durham MCCU against Durham and Northamptonshire in 2019. He scored 40 runs in his two matches, with a high score of 32. In addition to playing first-class cricket, Scott has also played minor counties cricket for Hertfordshire. Charles Perry Scott (7 June 1847, in Hull – 13 February 1927, in Shanghai) was an Anglican missionary bishop. Scott was born into an ecclesiastical family: his father was the Rev. John Scott, sometime Vicar of St Mary, Hull. He was named for his godfather, Charles Perry ( Bishop of Melbourne) and educated at Charterhouse and Jesus College, Cambridge, where he graduated B.A. in 1870. Ordained in 1871, he was a Curate at St Peter, Eaton Square before going to China as a missionary. In 1880 he was appointed bishop in North China, a post he held until 1913. Charles Hepburn Scott (29 November 1886 – 1964) was a Scottish-born Canadian artist. Early life Scott was born in Loudoun, Ayr, to Robert Hepburn and Jean (née Carmichael) Scott. Career Scott was a student at Glasgow School of Art from 1903 to 1909, where he studied both drawing and painting while working as a letter artist and art teacher. After graduating from the Glasgow school of art in 1909, he emigrated to Canada in 1912, where he was appointed as Art Supervisor for Calgary Schools. Eventually, Scott settled in Vancouver in 1914, working as Art Supervisor for Vancouver Schools. After the outbreak of World War I, Scott enlisted in the Canadian Force, serving overseas from 1915 to 1918. After the war, he returned to British Columbia where, in 1919, his belief in the importance of a community's cultural consciousness lead him to become a founding member of the British Columbian Arts League. Charles James Kennedy Osborne Scott (16 November 18762 July 1965) was an English organist and choral conductor who played an important part in developing the performance of choral and polyphonic music in England, especially of early and modern English music. Charles Rochfort Scott
Major-General Charles Rochfort Scott (8 February 1797 – 4 July 1872) was a British Army officer who became Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey. Military career Rochfort Scott was commissioned into the Royal Staff Corps where he remained until 1834 when he transferred to the 81st Regiment of Foot. It was in that year that he visited the Labyrinth of Messara at Gortyn in Crete and recorded his impressions. He spent most of 1840 and 1841 surveying parts of Syria; in January 1842 he was transferred to Gibraltar and in 1845 to Wales but throughout that time was still completing his maps of Syria. Charlie Scott (born 2 September 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Hong Kong Premier League club Kitchee. Career Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Scott joined Manchester United in July 2014. In January 2018, he had a trial at Sheffield United, and later that month moved on loan to Hamilton Academical. Charles Thomas Scott, also known as Shaheed Abdul-Aleem, (born December 15, 1948) is an American former professional basketball player. He played two seasons in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Scott was an Olympic Gold Medalist and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. Early life Scott was born in New York City and grew up primarily in Harlem, New York.
