Charles Ross (British Army Officer, Born 1667)
Charles Ross (or Rosse; 8 February 1667 – 5 August 1732) was a Scottish general officer, general and Member of Parliament. Military career Ross was born the second son of George Ross, 11th Lord Ross. He joined the British army as a cornet in the Regiment of Horse (Scotland), King's Own Royal Regiment of Scottish Horse some time before 1688.Dalton, ''The Blenheim Roll'', p. 4. When 5th Royal Irish Lancers, Wynne's Regiment of Inniskilling Dragoons was raised in 1689, Ross joined as a captain (military rank), captain, and served with the regiment in the Williamite War in Ireland. He went to Flanders with the regiment as lieutenant-colonel in 1694, and was appointed brevet colonel of the regiment on 16 February; when Wynne died on 15 July 1695 his colonelcy was made permanent. Charles Henry Ross
Charles Henry Ross (1835 – 12 October 1897) was an English writer and cartoonist. Biography Ross created the fictional character Ally Sloper for the British magazine '' Judy'' in 1867, the popular character was spun off into his own comic, ''Ally Sloper's Half Holiday'', in 1884. Ross originally was the illustrator of the character until his French-born wife, under the pseudonym Marie Duval, later took over the illustration. He had a son, Charles. For a number of years, Ross was the editor of ''Judy''. He contributed a series of engravings, entitled "A Happy Day in a Varlet's Life. Charles Stanley Ross is an American literary scholar, academic, and author. He is a Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature and a former Director of Comparative Literature Program at Purdue University. Ross's work focuses on British literature. He has also conducted research encompassing the Italian romantic epic, literature and law, and world literature. He has authored several books including the first English translation of Matteo Maria Boiardo’s ''Orlando Innamorato'', ''The Custom of the Castle from Malory to Macbeth'', ''Elizabethan Literature and the Law of Fraudulent Conveyance: Sidney, Spenser, and Shakespeare'', and a translation of Statius’ ''The Thebaid: Seven against Thebes''. Charlie Ross (born June 1950 in Buckinghamshire, England) is a British antiques expert, presenter and auctioneer, known for regular appearances on several BBC Antique programmes. Professional career Ross started his career in 1968 after leaving school joining a local firm of estate agents and found himself auctioning chickens and turkeys. He progressed from these to antique furniture, and later established his own auction house in Woburn near Milton Keynes. He stood down in February 2008. Ross appears on television as an antiques expert on the BBC programmes ''Bargain Hunt'', ''Flog It!'', ''Antiques Road Trip'' and '' Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is''. He is now one of the five regular presenters on ''Bargain Hunt''. For many years, Ross has conducted the Pebble Beach Vintage Car Auction in California, and the Scottsdale Auction in Arizona for Gooding and Company. Charlie Ross, sometimes billed as Charles Ross III, was an American singer who had some chart success as part of a group, and as a pop and country singer. He was born in Greenville, Mississippi. He was employed as a disk jockey at WDDT, before joining the group Phantom, which eventually became Eternity's Children. While still a member of Eternity's Children, he released his first solo record. In the mid-1970s he was working as a disk jockey at KFJZ.
