Charles M. Wesson
Charles Macon Wesson (July 23, 1878 – November 24, 1956) was a major general in the United States Army and the Army's 15th Chief of Ordnance for the U.S. Army Ordnance Department from 1938 to 1942. Early life and education Wesson was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 23, 1878. He later moved to Maryland and was admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Wesson played quarterback and defensive back on the football team. During his senior year, he recovered a fumbled punt and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown on a 110-yard field in the win against Syracuse and then made several key tackles in the win against Navy. Wesson graduated 21st in a class of 54 in 1900. Military career Following graduation, Wesson was posted to the cavalry and saw service with the 7th and 8th Cavalry in Cuba and at Fort Riley, Kansas until July 1, 1903. Fort Riley is a United States Army installation located in North Central Kansas, on the Kansas River, also known as the Kaw, between Junction City and Manhattan. The Fort Riley Military Reservation covers 101,733 acres (41,170 ha) in Geary and Riley counties. West Point Cemetery
West Point Cemetery is a historic cemetery in the eastern United States, on the grounds of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. It overlooks the Hudson River, and served as a burial ground for Revolutionary War soldiers and early West Point inhabitants long before 1817, when it was officially designated as a military cemetery. Northwest of the cadet area, it was known as "German Flats" before its formal designation as the official cemetery in 1817. Until that time several small burial plots scattered in mid-post also served as places of interment. The graves from these plots and the remains subsequently found during building excavations were removed to the new site. An improved road to the cemetery was constructed in 1840, and the caretaker's cottage was erected in 1872. Elkins Park is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is split between Cheltenham and Abington Townships in the northern suburbs outside of Philadelphia, which it borders along Cheltenham Avenue roughly from Center City. The Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC)known as Walter Reed General Hospital (WRGH) until 1951was the U.S. Army's flagship medical center from 1909 to 2011. Lend-Lease, formally the Lend-Lease Act and introduced as An Act to Promote the Defense of the United States (), was a policy under which the United States supplied the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union and other Allied nations with food, oil, and materiel between 1941 and 1945. American Expeditionary Forces
The American Expeditionary Forces (A. E. F.) was a formation of the United States Army on the Western Front of World War I. The A. E. F. was established on July 5, 1917, in France under the command of General John J. Pershing. It fought alongside French Army, British Army, Canadian Army, New Zealand Army and Australian Army units against the Imperial German Army. A small number of A. E.
