Charles Hutchinson (1636-1695) was an English politician. He was M.P. for Nottingham during the second and third Parliaments of King William III of England. He was the 5th son of Sir Thomas Hutchinson (M.P.) by his second wife Lady Catherine Stanhope of Selford and his first son by Lady Catherine. His mother was the daughter of Sir John Stanhope, and the half sister of Philip Stanhope, 1st Earl of Chesterfield. Family He married Issabella Boteler or Butler, she was the daughter of Sir Francis Boteler or Butler of Hatfield Woodhall. His niece was Catherine Cotton daughter of Charles Cotton. Charles Frederick Hutchinson
Sir Charles Frederick Hutchinson (23 January 1850 – 15 November 1907) was an English physician and Liberal politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Rye Division of Sussex from 1903 to 1906. Family and education Charles Hutchinson was the son of Richard Scholes Hutchinson, a medical doctor from Nottingham and his wife Innes Hadden. In 1880 he married Ellen Soames of London. They had one son, St John Hutchinson who also became a Liberal politician, contesting his father's old seat for the Liberals at both the January and December 1910 general elections. Hutchinson was educated at Elstree School, Uppingham and the University of Edinburgh where he got his MD. He also studied in Berlin, Vienna and Paris. Major-General Charles Scrope Hutchinson (8 August 1826 – 29 February 1912) was Chief Inspecting Officer for Railways from 1892 to 1895. Family Hutchinson was born in Hythe, Kent, son of Scrope Hutchinson, M.D. He was educated at University College School from 1839 to 1841. He was married on 6 January 1852 in Gibraltar to Christina Ross, youngest daughter of William Ross of Gibraltar. Charles Hutchison
Charles Hutchison (December 3, 1879 – May 30, 1949) was an American film actor, director and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 40 films between 1914 and 1944. He also directed 33 films between 1915 and 1938. Though he directed numerous independent silent features, he is best remembered today as Pathé's leading male serial star from 1918 to 1922. In 1923 he went to Britain and made two films ''Hutch Stirs 'em Up'' and ''Hurricane Hutch in Many Adventures'' for the Ideal Film Company. He made one last serial in 1926, ''Lightning Hutch'', for distribution by the Arrow Film Corporation. It was meant to be a comeback vehicle, but the production company went into bankruptcy just as it was released. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died in Hollywood, California. He was the person who convinced actor Karl Dane to return to films in the mid-1920s. Charles W
The F/V ''Charles W'', also known as Annie J Larsen, is a historic fishing schooner anchored in Petersburg, Alaska. At the time of its retirement in 2000, it was the oldest fishing vessel in the fishing fleet of Southeast Alaska, and the only known wooden fishing vessel in the entire state still in active service. Launched in 1907, she was first used in the halibut fisheries of Puget Sound and the Bering Sea as the ''Annie J Larsen''. In 1925 she was purchased by the Alaska Glacier Seafood Company, refitted for shrimp trawling, and renamed ''Charles W'' in honor of owner Karl Sifferman's father. The company was one of the pioneers of the local shrimp fishery, a business it began to phase out due to increasing competition in the 1970s. The ''Charles W'' was the last of the company's fleet of ships, which numbered twelve at its height. The boat was acquired in 2002 by the nonprofit Friends of the ''Charles W''. Charlie Hutchison
Charles William Duncan Hutchison (1918–1993) was a British-Ghanaian anti-fascist, soldier, and ambulance driver most famous for being the only Black-British member of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War. In Spain he was one of the youngest, one of the longest serving, and one of the first English-speaking volunteers. Citing his experiences as a man of colour and his childhood spent in an orphanage, Hutchison was an ardent anti-fascist and was involved in helping organise anti-fascist activists that took part in the Battle of Cable Street. Immediately joining the British military following Britain's declaration of war against Nazi Germany, Hutchison served the British Army between 1939-1946. During this time he took part in the Dunkirk evacuation, the Italian campaign, North African campaign, and the liberation of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. International Brigades
The International Brigades ( es, Brigadas Internacionales) were military units set up by the Communist International to assist the Popular Front government of the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War. The organization existed for two years, from 1936 until 1938. It is estimated that during the entire war, between 40,000 and 59,000 members served in the International Brigades, including some 10,000 who died in combat. Beyond the Spanish Civil War, "International Brigades" is also sometimes used interchangeably with the term foreign legion in reference to military units comprising foreigners who volunteer to fight in the military of another state, often in times of war. The headquarters of the brigade was located at the Gran Hotel, Albacete, Castilla-La Mancha.
