Charles Gunn (actor)
Charles E. Gunn (July 31, 1883 – December 6, 1918) was an American silent film actor with the Vitagraph Company of America. Gunn was born in Wisconsin but was educated in San Francisco after his family moved to California. After debuting in a bit part in a play in San Francisco, Gunn acted on stage with the Harry Davis, Morosco, and Alcazar stock theater troupes, and was the leading man for theatrical companies in Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh. He also toured in productions of ''St. Elmo'' and ''The Conspiracy''. On December 6, 1918, Gunn died in Los Angeles in the Spanish flu pandemic. Alma Rubens
Alma Rubens (born Alma Genevieve Reubens; February 19, 1897 – January 21, 1931) was an American film actress and stage performer. Rubens began her career in the mid 1910s. She quickly rose to stardom in 1916 after appearing opposite Douglas Fairbanks in ''The Half-Breed''. For the remainder of the decade, she appeared in supporting roles in comedies and drama. In the 1920s, Rubens developed a drug addiction which eventually ended her career. She died of lobar pneumonia and bronchitis shortly after being arrested for cocaine possession in January 1931. Early life Alma Genevieve Reubens was born on February 19, 1897, to John B. and Theresa (née Hayes) Reubens in San Francisco, California. ''Mountain Dew'' is a lost 1917 American silent comedy-drama film directed by Thomas N. Heffron and starring Margery Wilson. It was produced and distributed by the Triangle Film Corporation. Plot As described in a film magazine, J. Hamilton Vance (Gunn) goes to the mountains to find new material for a novel. He becomes a school teacher and becomes infatuated with Roxie Bradley (Wilson), the daughter of Squire Bradley (Filson), who does not approve of his daughter's learning. Vance is successful in teaching the girl to read and write and, although he is suspected of being a revenue agent, he manages to make a few friendships.
