Charles Gordon (cricketer, Born 1849)
Charles Steward Gordon (8 September 1849 – 24 March 1930) was an English first-class cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and an underarm slow bowler who played mainly for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club from 1870 to 1875. He also played one match for Victoria in 1870. Gordon was born at Oakleaze, Gloucestershire. Gordon made 14 first-class appearances, scoring 504 runs, with a highest innings of 121, which was his only century, in addition to 3 half-centuries. He held 8 catches in his career and took 8 wickets with a best analysis of 3–67. Victoria Cricket Team
The Victoria men’s cricket team is an Australian first-class men's cricket team based in Melbourne, Victoria. The men’s team, which first played in 1851, represents the state of Victoria in the Marsh Sheffield Shield first-class competition and the Marsh One Day Cup 50-over competition. It was known as the Victorian Bushrangers between 1995 and 2018, before dropping the Bushrangers nickname and electing to be known as simply Victoria in all cricket competitions. Victoria shares home matches between the Melbourne Cricket Ground in East Melbourne and the Junction Oval in St Kilda. Nottington is a village within the Dorset unitary authority area of the county of Dorset, England. Its nearest town is Weymouth, which lies approximately to the south-east. Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Gloucestershire. Founded in 1870, Gloucestershire have always been first-class and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club played its first senior match in 1870 and W. G. Bowler (cricket)
Bowling, in cricket, is the action of propelling the ball toward the wicket defended by a batter. A player skilled at bowling is called a ''bowler''; a bowler who is also a competent batter is known as an all-rounder. Bowling the ball is distinguished from ''throwing'' the ball by a strictly specified biomechanical definition, which restricts the angle of extension of the elbow.
