Charles Dunning
Charles Avery Dunning (July 31, 1885 – October 1, 1958) was the third premier of Saskatchewan. Born in England, he emigrated to Canada at the age of 16. By the age of 36, he was premier. He had a successful career as a farmer, businessman, and politician, both provincially and federally. A Liberal, Dunning led his government in one general election, in 1925, winning a majority government. He was the third of six Liberal premiers to date. He resigned as Premier in 1926 to enter federal politics and was succeeded by James Gardiner. He served in the Cabinet of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King. After leaving politics, Dunning served for many years as the Chancellor of Queen's University at Kingston. The premier of Saskatchewan is the first minister and head of government for the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Moose Jaw County
Moose Jaw County was a provincial electoral division for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The district was created as "Moose Jaw" before the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905. The riding was abolished into the districts of Gravelbourg, Bengough, Notukeu-Willow Bunch, and Milestone before the 9th Saskatchewan general election in 1938. Croft is a village and civil parish in the Blaby district of Leicestershire, off the Fosse Way, straddling the River Soar. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,639. Geography The village is about southwest of Leicester, in the Blaby District of Leicestershire. The civil parish covers an area of and nearby places include Stoney Stanton, Broughton Astley, Huncote and Narborough. Arbor Road and Broughton Road run from the B4114 (Fosse Way) into the village and Huncote Road runs towards the village of Huncote which lies to the other side of Croft Hill. James Lester Douglas
James Lester Douglas (29 November 1881 – 30 September 1950) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Head of Hillsborough, Prince Edward Island, the son of Elisha Albert Douglas and Emma Louise Coffin. He became an exporter and farmer by career. He was educated at Charlottetown Business College. In 1910, Douglas received a Royal Humane Society Medal for life saving. He married Mabel Amanda Wright (1898–1969) on 17 May 1927. He was first elected to Parliament at the Queen's riding in the 1940 general election and re-elected there in the 1945 1945 marked the end of World War II and the fall of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. J. James Larabee (10 April 1885 – 28 November 1954) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Eldon, Prince Edward Island and became a merchant. He was first elected to Parliament at the Queen's riding in the 1935 general election. Queen's (Prince Edward Island Electoral District)
Queen's was a federal electoral district in Prince Edward Island, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1904 to 1968. History This riding was created in 1903 from parts of East Prince, East Queen's and West Queen's ridings. It was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed into Cardigan, Hillsborough and Malpeque ridings, to take effect at the time of the next election (which took place in 1968). It consisted of the County of Queen's and elected two members. In 1914, it was redefined to elect only one member unless the British North America Act, 1867, were amended to entitle the province of Prince Edward Island to four members. When that happened, before the next election, Queen's again was entitled to elect two members. It continued to have two members until it was abolished in 1966. Franklin White Turnbull
Franklin White Turnbull (19 June 1881 – 24 February 1971) was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Carleton County, Ontario and became a barrister. Turnbull attended schools at Vankleek Hill, Ontario, Edmonton, and Springhill, Ontario (secondary school number 8). He studied law with F.W.A.G. Haultain in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was first elected to Parliament at the Regina riding in the 1930 general election after a previous unsuccessful campaign there in the 1925 election. Francis Nicholson Darke
Francis Nicholson Darke (October 25, 1863 – July 17, 1940) was a leading citizen of Regina, Saskatchewan and served as Mayor of Regina, Member of Parliament and as a prominent businessman. He was born near Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on his family's farm, remaining there until his late 20s when he decided to move to Western Canada. He arrived in Regina in 1891 and settled there permanently after returning to PEI to marry. He partnered with fellow islander Pople Balderson to raise livestock on a farm outside of Regina. Later, the two men purchased a butcher's shop in town and were soon able to obtain contracts with residential schools and the North-West Mounted Police. Darke invested his earnings to purchase several blocks of land in town from the Canadian Pacific Railway.
