Charles Delaney
Charles Delaney (August 9, 1892 – August 31, 1959) was an American actor. Biography Delaney was born in New York City in 1892. He was originally a motor mechanic and having learned to fly during World War I, he started doing flying vaudeville acts on his return to civilian life before beginning to appear in films. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1913 and 1959. Delaney died in Hollywood in 1959. His final screen appearance was a supporting role in the independently produced low-budget feature '' The Beatniks'' which was released posthumously in 1960. Delaney bore a resemblance to film star Tom Moore. ''Husband Hunters'' is a 1927 American comedy-drama silent film released by Tiffany Productions, directed by John G. Adolfi, and starring Mae Busch, Charles Delaney and Jean Arthur. Plot The film looks at the exploits of chorus girls Marie (Mae Busch) and Helen (Duane Thompson) who have dedicated themselves to finding and marrying millionaire husbands. The two ladies enlist the help of the innocent young Lettie Crane (Jean Arthur) in their scheme. Lettie is a girl from a small town who dreams of one day making it big on Broadway. After being enlisted by the two, Lettie is left heartbroken by a callous young man and regrets her involvement. ''Show Girl'' is a 1928 American comedy-drama film starring Alice White and Donald Reed. It was based on the first of J. P. McEvoy's two Dixie Dugan novels, as was the 1929 musical. It was followed by a sequel, '' Show Girl in Hollywood'' (1930). While the film has no audible dialogue, it is accompanied by a Vitaphone sound-on-disc soundtrack with a musical score and sound effects. Plot Dixie Dugan, a Brooklyn cutie, goes to the offices of theatrical producers Eppus and Kibbitzer and exposes her perfections in a bathing suit. Eppus and Kibbitzer express interest in her future and arrange for her to work in a nightclub act with Álvarez Romano. ''The Air Circus'' is a 1928 American drama film directed by Howard Hawks and starring Arthur Lake, Sue Carol, David Rollins, and Louise Dresser. It is the first of Hawks's aviation films. The film is notable as the first aviation oriented film with dialogue. Plot Two young men, "Speed" Doolittle ( Arthur Lake) and Buddy Blake (David Rollins) go out west to become pilots. The pair encounter an accomplished aviator (Sue Carol) in flight school at a local airport. Once at the school, the boys set about learning to fly. On his first solo flight, however, Buddy has a sudden attack of fear and almost kills himself and his instructor.
