Charles-Ferdinand Nothomb
Baron Charles-Ferdinand N. M. P. Nothomb (born 3 May 1936) is a French-speaking Belgian politician. He is a member of the Humanist Democratic Centre (cdH). He served as Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1980 until 1981, and as Minister of the Interior from 1981 to 1986. Since 2002 Nothomb has been Vice President of the European Movement international. Charles-Ferdinand Nothomb is the great-uncle of the Belgian writer Amélie Nothomb. Order Of Leopold II
The Order of Leopold II is an order of Belgium and is named in honor of King Leopold II. The decoration was established on 24 August 1900 by Leopold II as Sovereign of the Congo Free State and was in 1908, upon Congo being handed over to Belgium, incorporated into the Belgian awards system. The order is awarded for meritorious service to the sovereign of Belgium, and as a token of his personal goodwill. It can be awarded to both Belgians and foreigners, and is seen as diplomatic gift of merit. The order has become a long service order for people in the civil service and is awarded alternatively with the Order of the Crown, as the Order of Leopold is awarded under rarer circumstances. Philippe Maystadt
Philippe M.P.J. Maystadt (14 March 1948 – 7 December 2017) was a Belgian politician who served as Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance, and Deputy Prime Minister. He was President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) from 2000 to 2011. Personal life and studies Philippe Maystadt was born in Verviers (Belgium) in 1948. He obtained a PhD in Law at the Catholic University of Louvain and gained a Master of Arts in public administration at Claremont Graduate School, Los Angeles, USA. He was a part-time professor at the Law Faculty of the Catholic University of Louvain. Maystadt died on 7 December 2017 aged 69 years. Gérard Deprez
Gérard M.J. Deprez (born 13 August 1943 in Noville, Bastogne) is a Belgian politician. He was the president of the Walloon Christian Social Party (PSC) from 1981 to 1996. In 1998 he left the PSC and founded the Citizens' Movement for Change (MCC). He was a Member of the European Parliament representing the French Community of Belgium for six terms from 1984 to 2009 and again from 2014 until 2019. He is the Delegate General of the European Democratic Party. Life and political career Deprez studied philosophy, language and literature and added postgraduate studies in sociology.
