Chaparral High School is a public high school located in Parker, Colorado. It is a part of the Douglas County School District RE-1. The school is notable in Colorado for how it came to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) unit. Chaparral student Cody Schmidt died in 2003 after his heart stopped while in gym class, spurring his parents to raise funds to acquire AED units for all Douglas County schools. Extracurricular activities Chaparral has club sports which have earned state recognition, such as boys' and girls' rugby, ice hockey, inline hockey, and volleyball. Chaparral High School's theatre department was named the number one high school theatre program in the southwest US by ''Stage Directions'' magazine in November 2011. Douglas County School District Re. 1 is a school district that serves Douglas County, Colorado. The district was formed in 1958 by the consolidation of 17 smaller school districts, adding the "Re. 1" to its name to note the district's first reorganization. In August 2019, the Arapahoe Community College Sturm Collaboration Campus at Castle Rock, Colorado has opened. This is a partnership with the district and Colorado State University. Classes at the new 43,000-square-foot facility at 4500 Limelight Ave. begins Aug. 19. Hayden Matthew Dalton (born June 20, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He plays the power forward position. Roller inline hockey, or inline hockey is a variant of hockey played on a hard, smooth surface, with players using inline skates to move and ice hockey sticks to shoot a hard, plastic puck into their opponent's goal to score points.
