Carol Channing
Carol Elaine Channing (January 31, 1921 – January 15, 2019) was an American actress, singer, dancer and comedian who starred in Broadway and film musicals. Her characters usually had a fervent expressiveness and an easily identifiable voice, whether singing or for comedic effect. Channing originated the lead roles in '' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'' in 1949 and '' Hello, Dolly!'' in 1964, winning the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for the latter. She revived both roles several times throughout her career, playing Dolly on Broadway for the final time in 1995. She was nominated for her first Tony Award in 1956 for ''The Vamp'', followed by a nomination in 1961 for ''Show Girl''. She received her fourth Tony Award nomination for the musical ''Lorelei'' in 1974. Channing Nicole Dungey (born March 14, 1969) is an American television executive and the first black American president of a major broadcast television network. In 2020, she was announced as the new chairwoman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Studios. Early life Dungey was born in Sacramento, California, to Don and Judith Dungey. She is the oldest of two daughters; her younger sister is actress Merrin Dungey. Dungey attended Rio Americano High School where she was a cheerleader and held a 2.4 GPA. She graduated in 1986. Channing Jevante Ward (born September 17, 1992) is a former American football defensive tackle. He played college football at Mississippi. Ward now coaches the defensive line at New Albany High School in New Albany, Mississippi. Channing Heggie Tobias (February 1, 1882 in Augusta, Georgia – November 5, 1961 in Manhattan, NY) was a civil rights activist and 1948 Spingarn Medalist. In 1946 he was appointed to the President's Committee on Civil Rights. He has been called "the Booker T. Washington of his day". Tobias was orphaned young, brought up by a widowed friend of his mother's. He attended public schools in Augusta. He received his BA from Paine College in 1902 and went on to Drew Seminary. He was ordained in the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in 1911. Tobias was on the faculty of Paine College for six years, teaching biblical literature. From 1911 to 1946 he was active in the YMCA and race-related issues involving it. While chairman of the committee on race relations for the 1937 YMCA World Conference in India he met Mahatma Gandhi. Channing Rex Robertson is Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford under the supervision of Andreas Acrivos. He joined the faculty of Stanford in 1970, and served as the Ruth G. and William K. Bowes Professor and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty & Academic Affairs in the School of Engineering there. Channing Hill (born August 22, 1987 in Grand Island, Nebraska) is an American jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Hill began riding horses when he was 16 years old. He rode full-time at Prairie Meadows Racetrack between his junior and senior years in high school.
