Channing Hill
Channing Hill (born August 22, 1987 in Grand Island, Nebraska) is an American jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Hill began riding horses when he was 16 years old. He rode full-time at Prairie Meadows Racetrack between his junior and senior years in high school. After graduating from Columbus High School in 2005 he traveled to New York to continue his riding career. His father is longtime jockey Allan Hill who rode at Fonner Park during his four decade long racing career. Monmouth Park
Monmouth Park Racetrack is an American race track for thoroughbred horse racing in Oceanport, New Jersey, United States. It is owned by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and is operated under a five-year lease as a partnership with Darby Development, LLC. Monmouth Park's marquee event is the Haskell Invitational, named after Amory L. Haskell. The Haskell was first run in 1968 as a handicap, but was made into an Invitational Handicap in 1981. It is now a 1⅛-mile test for three-year-olds run in late July. Monmouth Park also now showcases the Jersey Derby originally run at Garden State Park until its closure in 2001. Wistful Stakes
Wistful (foaled in 1946 in Kentucky) was an American Champion Thoroughbred racemare. The daughter of Sun Again and granddaughter of Sun Teddy is best remembered for wins in the Kentucky Oaks, the Coaching Club American Oaks, the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. Early career Wistful was born in 1946 in Kentucky. She was born in the glory days of Calumet Farm, being bred, reared and raced by the industry's then standard bearer. She therefore ran her races with her jockeys wearing the "devil red Silks" of calumet. Wistful never ran as a two-year-old. Three-year-old season Wistful placed second in the Ashland Stakes at Keeneland Racecourse in April, losing to a longshot named Tall Weeds. Her connections then entered her in the first two jewels of America's de facto Filly Triple Crown: the Kentucky Oaks and the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. Arlington Oaks
The Arlington Oaks was an American Grade III Thoroughbred horse race run at Arlington Park racetrack near Chicago. Raced on dirt over a distance of 1 1/8 miles (9 Furlongs), the race is restricted to three-year-old fillies. It offers a purse of $150,000. Inaugurated in 1930, after the running of the 1932 edition, the race was not run again until 1980. There was no race in 1998 and 1999 and was run for the last time in 2014. Known as the Arlington Oaks from 1930 to 1992 and in 2000, it was run as the Arlington Heights Oaks from 1993 to 1997, the Singapore Plate from 2001 to 2003, and as the Arlington Breeders' Cup Oaks in 2004. The American Derby is a Thoroughbred horse race in the United States run annually at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Bourbon Stakes
The Bourbon Stakes is a Grade II American thoroughbred horse race for two-year-olds over a distance of miles on the turf held annually in early October at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky during the fall meeting. History The event was inaugurated on 23 October 1991 as the Hopemont Stakes and was won by the short priced 1-2 favorite Stress Buster who was ridden by US Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day in a time of 1:44.84. The Distaff Handicap is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares that are four years old or older at a distance of seven furlongs on the dirt run annually in early April at Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park, Queens, New York. Howard's British mare Mab's Choice, who was trained by the future US Hall of Fame trainer Charles E. Whittingham in a time of 1:24. Seabiscuit Stakes
Seabiscuit (May 23, 1933 – May 17, 1947) was a champion thoroughbred racehorse in the United States who became the top money-winning racehorse up to the 1940s. He beat the 1937 Triple Crown winner, War Admiral, by four lengths in a two-horse special at Pimlico Race Course, Pimlico and was voted American Horse of the Year for 1938. Ladies Handicap
The Ladies Stakes is a historic American Thoroughbred horse race for Fillies and Mares four years of age and older held annually at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York. Inaugurated at the Jerome Park Racetrack in 1868, it is the oldest stakes race in the United States exclusively for fillies and mares. An unlisted stakes race, it is currently run on or about New Year's Day and offers a purse of $100,000. From its beginnings in 1868 through 1912 the race was restricted to three-year-old fillies then from 1913 through 1938, it was made open to fillies of any age. Since 1939, it has been open to older fillies and mares. Toboggan Handicap
The Toboggan Stakes, formerly the Toboggan Handicap, is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually during the first week of March at Aqueduct Race Track in Queens, New York. Open to horses aged three and older, the Grade III event is contested over at a distance of six furlongs on the dirt and offers a purse of $150,000 added. The 123rd running of The Toboggan Handicap was run in 2016. Before 1896, it was called the Toboggan Slide because it took place on the downhill Eclipse course at Morris Park Racecourse in the Bronx. Paumonok Handicap
The Paumonok Handicap was an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York. A six furlong sprint race, it was open to horses aged three years and older. The race was inaugurated in 1906 at the now defunct Jamaica Racetrack in Jamaica, Queens, New York. It was hosted by the Jamaica track from 1906 to 1908 and from 1915 to 1959. Belmont Park hosted it in 1913. Due to the passage by the New York Legislature of the Hart–Agnew Law outlawing gambling in New York State, there was no race run in 1909, 1911, 1912, and 1914.
