Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Lídia Mattos
Lídia Mattos (10 October 1924 – 22 January 2013) was a Brazilian actress whose career spanned radio, theater, television and film. Mattos was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1924. She had four children with her husband, actor Urbano Lóes. She made her film debut in the 1939 Brazilian movie, ''Aves Sem Ninho'', directed by Raul Roulien. She appeared in numerous films throughout the 1940s and 1950s, including Ruy Costa's ''Pega Ladrão'' in 1940; Moacyr Fenelon's ''Gente Honesta'' in 1944; ''Mãos Sangrentas'', directed by Carlos Hugo Christensen in 1955; and Eurípedes Ramos's ''O Diamante'' in 1956. She continued to be cast in film roles during the 1970s and 1980s as well. In 2000, Mattos was awarded as Best Supporting Actress in the Gramado Film Festival by the role of Letícia in the Florinda Bolkan's film, ''Eu Não Conhecia Tururu''. Oswaldo Louzada (Rio de Janeiro, 12 April 1912 — Rio de Janeiro, 22 February 2008) was a Brazilian actor. He was also known as Louzadinha. Louzada was born in Rio de Janeiro on April 12, 1912. He began working on the Radio Panamericana radio drama, under the direction of Oduvaldo Viana in 1944. Louzada also filmed two Brazilian movies in 1944, '' Gente Honesta'' and '' É Proibido Sonhar''. Cecil Aldary Portocarrero Thiré (28 May 1943 – 9 October 2020) was a Brazilian television, film and stage actor, and director. Life and career Thiré was born in Rio de Janeiro, the only son of actress Tônia Carrero and artist Carlos Arthur Thiré.
