Chain Reaction (record Label)
Chain Reaction was a German record label founded in 1995 by Basic Channel members Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. The label's output consisted of the extended friends and family of the Basic Channel duo, which centered on the Hard Wax record store in Berlin. The label's sound focused on a similar minimal and dub techno style as that of Basic Channel, rooted in atmospherics and minimalism, but some have found Chain Reaction's output to be "more avant-experimental". Notable artists that have released records on the label include Monolake, Porter Ricks, Vainqueur and Fluxion. The last record on the label was released in 2003. Moritz Von Oswald
Moritz von Oswald (born 1962) is a German record producer and percussionist from Hamburg and based in Berlin. He is a co-founder of the production duo and record label Basic Channel. He has collaborated with Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, and Nils Petter Molvær. He also leads the Moritz von Oswald Trio, which has featured musicians such as Vladislav Delay, Tony Allen, and Laurel Halo. '' The Stranger'' called him "one of the master architects of dub techno". Early life Moritz von Oswald was born in 1962 in Hamburg, Germany. He is a member of the House of Bismarck and a great-great-grandson of Otto von Bismarck. His parents were Countess Mari Ann von Bismarck-Schönhausen and the Hamburg merchant Egbert von Oswald. Vladislav Delay
Vladislav Delay is the most frequently used pseudonym of Sasu Ripatti (born 1976), a Finnish electronic musician. He has also recorded as Luomo, Sistol, Uusitalo, Conoco, and Ripatti, working in styles such as minimal techno, glitch, and house. Background Ripatti has been involved in the ambient music, glitch, house, and techno genres. His method of track production involves a mixture of synthesizing, vocal recording and live reprocessing. Fluxion (artist)
Fluxion is a pseudonym of Konstantinos Soublis (born 1973), a musician and producer of electronic music from Greece. Background K. Soublis music includes different genres of electronic music, ambient, dub, experimental, techno, with sound design. His music has a characteristic of slowly evolving parts and contemplating elements which form lengthy musical pieces. His sounds are heavily processed to a point where the origin of a sound has little to do with the end result. William Jacques Vainqueur (born 19 November 1988) is a French former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He mostly played as a central or defensive midfielder position. Club career FC Nantes Born in Neuilly-sur-Marne, a commune in the eastern suburbs of Paris, Vainqueur joined Noisy-le-Grand FC at the age of 8. Monolake
Monolake is a German electronic music project, initially consisting of members Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, Monolake is now perpetuated by Henke while Behles focuses on running music software company Ableton, which they founded in 1999 together with Bernd Roggendorf. From 2004, Torsten Pröfrock became a member of Monolake. Monolake's minimal, dub-influenced techno helped establish the sound of the Chain Reaction label, also located in Berlin, subsequently using their own l/i(''Monolake / Imbalance Computer Music'') label for the group's output. Both current members have solo projects, with Henke releasing under his own name and Pröfrock as "T++" and "Various Artists." Dub Techno
Dub techno is a subgenre of techno that combines the style with elements of dub music, including its sparse, delay-heavy production and prominent bass. Minimal techno is a subgenre of techno music. It is characterized by a stripped-down aesthetic that exploits the use of repetition and understated development. Hard Wax
{{unreferenced, date=June 2015 Hard Wax is a record shop located in the Kreuzberg borough of Berlin, Germany. It was founded in December 1989 by Mark Ernestus at the ground floor of a Reichenberger Straße’s building. It is specialized in techno music, reggae, dub and dubstep. Hard Wax also serves as a distributor for several Berlin-based record labels linked to the Basic Channel aesthetic. Some members (or former members) of its staff are prominent DJs like DJ Hell, Gernot Bronsert of Modeselektor, Marcel Dettmann, DJ Rok, Gabriele „Mo“ Loschelder or Electric Indigo ( Susanne Kirchmayr) who was in charge of sales from 1993 to 1996.
