Ahmed Issa
Ahmed Issa (July 17, 1943 – 1983) was a middle distance runner who competed for Chad. Issa was part of the two-man team that first ever represented Chad at the Summer Olympics when he competed at the 1964 Games held in Tokyo, he competed in the 800 metres, in the first round he came second behind the German Manfred Kinder, in the next round he finished 6th and so didn't qualify for the final. He was featured prominently in the official film of the Games – Tokyo Olympiad by Kon Ichikawa. Four years later at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City Issa finished 4th in his heat in the 800 metres and failed to qualify. He would fare better in the 1500 metres, finishing 4th in the first round and qualifying for semi-finals, in which he finished 8th and failed to make the qualifying mark of the top six from his heat to qualify. The men's 800 metres was the middle of the seven men's track races in the Athletics at the 1964 Summer Olympics program in Tokyo. 47 athletes from 32 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The first round was held on 14 October, with the semifinals on 15 October and the final on 16 October. The event was won by Peter Snell of New Zealand, successfully defending his 1960 gold medal (the third man to do so), and completing the first half of his 800 metres/1500 metres double. Mahamat Idriss (ne ''Koundja Ouya'', 17 July 1942 – 3 October 1987) was a Chadian high jumper. He was born in Fort-Lamy, Chad, French Equatorial Africa. Career Before the Chadian independency on 11 August 1960 he competed for France, winning the French national championships in 1960 and 1961.
