Cesare Pronti
Cesare Pronti (November 30, 1626 – October 22, 1708) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly near Ravenna. Biography He was born at Cattolica, near Rimini, and was brought up at Bologna, training in that city under Guercino. He then helped complete the quadrature for the Villa Albizzi in Bologna, working with Carlo Cignani. He then moved to Ravenna, where Pronti helped decorate with a mix of quadratura and allegorical figures representing four Continents in the Rasponi family's palace, Palazzo di San Giacomo, near Russi. He also helped decorate, with oculi with flying putti, the former church of San Romualdo, now a museum in Classe (in the Biblioteca Classense), and formerly a Camaldolese Abbey. In Ravenna, he was commonly called Padre Cesare da Ravenna. Biblioteca Classense
The Biblioteca Classense is the public library of Ravenna, Italy. In 1803, with the Napoleonic suppression of monasteries and religious institutions, a library was created to harbor the confiscated books. They were housed in the Library of the Camaldolese Monastery, which had been founded in the 17th century by the Abbott Pietro Canneti in the Abbey of Classe. The collection includes manuscript codices, incunabula, prints, musical works, and numerous artworks and books. Added to the collection included the library of the architect Camillo Morigia (1743-1795) and the art critic Corrado Ricci (1858-1934). The library has a large collection of editions of the works related to Dante Alighieri. Sant'Agostino is a Roman Catholic church, originally founded in the 13th-century but refurbished in the following centuries, located on Corso XI Settembre in the historic center of Pesaro, region of Marche, Italy. History The eclectic facade has accumulated elements from refurbishments over the centuries. A church at this site was first built in 1258 in a romanesque-style; in 1282 it was assigned to the cloistered Augustinian monks. During the second half of the 14th century, the church was refurbished in a gothic style. The elaborate ogival entrance portal was erected between 1398 and 1413, under the patronage of the Malatesta dei Sonetti. The iconography contains the lions of the Malatesta coat of arms. A further refurbishment occurred in the 18th century, surrounding the portal with a baroque facade.
