Central New York Raceway Park
Central New York Raceway Park is a motorsports complex currently under construction in Central Square, New York, United States. The complex will feature a 2.2 mile (3.54 km) road course and a 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval for both auto & harness racing. The 2.2 mile road course was designed by Peter Argetsinger and will be the only natural terrain road course in North America featuring a permanent lighting system. The 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval will also feature a smaller oval for go-karts and flat track speedway bike racing. Central Square is a village in Oswego County, New York, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. The Village of Central Square is located in the southern part of the Town of Hastings on Route 49 and U.S. Route 11. The village is west of Interstate 81. The village is northwest of Oneida Lake. Peter Argetsinger (February 22, 1950 – February 6, 2020) was an American racing driver and instructor. Argetsinger participated in numerous junior open wheel racing formulae in the late 1970s and early 1980s, finishing 14th in the 1980 Formula Ford Festival. He competed in the British Formula 3 Championship in 1982 and finished 19th in points. Super Dirt Week
Super Dirt Week is a modified racing event held annually on Columbus Day weekend in Central New York state. History The first event was scheduled over three days, from September 29, through October 1, 1972 at the New York State Fairgrounds. Inspection and qualifying races were conducted on Friday and Saturday, and the Championship race was held on Sunday. In 1976 a fourth day was added to the schedule, and a 100 mile race the USAC Champ Cars was held on Saturday October 2. The date of the event was eventually changed to Columbus Day weekend, and expanded to 6 days and championships for 5 car classes. The Syracuse Mile remained the featured race track until 2015, and companion races were added over the week at the nearby race tracks in Elbridge, Weedsport, and Brewerton. The Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds is a North American big block modified touring series currently promoted by World Racing Group. The series primarily races on dirt ovals in the Northeastern United States and Canada along with select dates in Florida and North Carolina.
