The Central District of Karaj County ( fa, بخش مرکزی شهرستان کرج) is a district (bakhsh) in Karaj County, Alborz province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 1,667,024, in 460,242 families. The District has five cities: Karaj, Mahdasht, Kamal Shahr, Mohammadshahr, and Garmdarreh. A ( fa, بخش, also romanized as ) is a third-level administrative division of Iran. While sometimes translated as "county," it is more accurately translated as "district," similar to a township in the United States or a district of England. Karaj
Karaj ( fa, کرج, ) is the capital of Alborz Province, Iran, and effectively a satellite city of Tehran. Although the county hosts a population around 1.97 million, as recorded in the 2016 census, most of the county is rugged mountain.
