Center For Art, Design And Visual Culture
The Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture (CADVC) was established in 1989 as the Fine Art Gallery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The center is the university's prime exhibition location where students, professors, staff and the public can experience visual culture along with cultural and aesthetic issues. CADVC is a non-profit organization that also publishes media related to the arts. The center includes a traveling exhibition program that features work from prominent museums such as the Andy Warhol Museum, New Museum of Contemporary Art, and the International Center of Photography. Other programs include a publication program, a k-12 educational outreach program with Baltimore City and Baltimore County, a campus education initiative, and the UMBC Sculpture Park and Outreach Program. The Andy Warhol Museum is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is the largest museum in North America dedicated to a single artist. The museum holds an extensive permanent collection of art and archives from the Pittsburgh-born pop art icon Andy Warhol. The New Museum of Contemporary Art, founded in 1977 by Marcia Tucker, is a museum in New York City at 235 Bowery, on Manhattan's Lower East Side. History The museum originally opened in a space in the Graduate Center of the then-named New School for Social Research at 65 Fifth Avenue. The International Center of Photography (ICP), at 79 Essex Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, consists of a museum for photography and visual culture and a school offering an array of educational courses and programming.
