The Center for Advanced Studies on Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (Spanish: ''Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y El Caribe'') is a private institute housed in the former San Ildefonso Conciliar Seminary of Puerto Rico, San Ildefonso Conciliar Seminary in Old San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico that offers graduate school, graduate studies in arts and philosophy. ''El Vocero de Puerto Rico'' is a Puerto Rican free newspaper that is published in San Juan. Published since 1974, ''El Vocero'' was at first the third of the four largest Puerto Rico newspapers, trailing '' El Mundo'' and ''El Nuevo Día'' and leading '' El Reportero'' and ''The San Juan Star'' in sales. Abel Nazario
Abel Nazario Quiñones (born 24 June 1970) is former senator at large of the 26th Senate of Puerto Rico and was mayor of Yauco, Puerto Rico. He was first elected in 2000 representing the New Progressive Party (PNP). He was reelected in 2004 , 2008 and 2012. Soraya Aracena
Soraya Aracena is a anthropologist and curator from the Dominican Republic, who specialises in the religious and cultural practices of black Caribbean communities. In additional to her research she has also founded cultural festivals and an ethnographic video archive. Biography Aracena obtained first studied Communication at undergraduate level. She graduated from the MA in Studies of the Greater Antilles from the Centre for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean in 1997. Enrique Arturo Laguerre Vélez (July 15, 1905 – June 16, 2005) was a teacher, novelist, playwright, critic, and newspaper columnist from Moca, Puerto Rico. He is the author of the 1935 novel ''La Llamarada'' (), which has been for many years obligatory reading in many literature courses in Puerto Rico. Biography Laguerre studied at various universities, obtaining degrees in arts from the University of Puerto Rico and Columbia University. Ricardo Alegría
Ricardo E. Alegría Gallardo (April 14, 1921 – July 7, 2011) was a Puerto Rican scholar, cultural anthropologist and archaeologist known as the "father of modern Puerto Rican archaeology". Early years Alegría was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he received his primary and secondary education. His father, José S. Alegría, was a former vice president and founding member of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. It was Alegría's father who instilled in him a sense of love and pride for Puerto Rico, its history, and culture. In 1941 at the University of Puerto Rico, together with Yamil Galib, Alegría founded a new fraternity, Alpha Beta Chi.
