Celtic Dragons
Celtic Dragons are a Welsh netball team based in Cardiff. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. Their best performance in the Superleague came in 2013 when they finished as runners up to Team Bath. Playing as Celtic Flames, Dragons also played in the 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club. Celtic Dragons main partners include the Welsh Netball Association, the Wales national netball team and Cardiff Metropolitan University. Manchester Thunder are an English netball team based in Manchester. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06, Thunder were founding members of the league. They were Superleague champions in 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022. Between 2001 and 2012 they played as Northern Thunder and were originally based in Bury, Greater Manchester. University Of Worcester Arena
The University of Worcester Arena, commonly referred to as Worcester Arena, is a multi-purpose sports venue and events arena in Worcester, England. The 2,000-seat capacity venue opened in April 2013 and is the home arena of Worcester Wolves basketball team, whilst also being a national centre of excellence for disability sports. Plans for the construction of a new sports arena were first unveiled in January 2010 after the University of Worcester had purchased land on Hylton Road used previously as a fruit and vegetable market. Initial reports indicated the capacity of the new venue would seat 1,500 people, cost £10 million and would be due to open in the Spring of 2012. 2013 Netball Superleague Grand Final
The 2013 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Team Bath and Celtic Dragons. Team Bath secured their fifth Netball Superleague title in eight years with a victory over Dragons. Dragons, who were playing their first grand final won the second quarter by two points to lead 31–30 at half-time. However Team Bath fought back and entered the final quarter with a two-point advantage at 46–44. Although Dragons kept themselves in the game with three successive goals, Team Bath stretched clear in the final two minutes to win it. Netball At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Netball was one of the ten core sports at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which was held on the Gold Coast in Australia. This was the sixth staging of netball at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1998, and the second time the netball event was held in Australia. The competition took place between 5 and 15 April 2018. Preliminary matches were held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with finals matches held at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. New Zealand National Netball Team
The New Zealand national netball team, commonly known as the Silver Ferns, represent New Zealand in international netball. The team take their nickname from the Silver Tree Fern (''Cyathea dealbata''), which is an emblem for many New Zealand sports teams. The Silver Ferns were formed in 1938 as a representative New Zealand team to tour Australia. To date, they have been one of the most dominant national netball teams in the world, along with Australia, and have a winning record against most other netball nations. Mainland Tactix are a netball in New Zealand, New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury. Temalisi Fakahokotau (born 9 September 1994) is a New Zealand netball player of Tongan descent. She first played for the national team in 2014. Early life Fakahokotau was born in New Zealand of Tongan parents on 9 September 1994. She is one of nine siblings, and has seven brothers and one sister. She attended Westlake Girls High School in Auckland, where she was Sportswoman of the Year in 2012. Anna Thompson (netball)
Anna Kennedy (born 18 June 1986 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player. Kennedy plays in the ANZ Championship for the Canterbury Tactix. In 2009, she was named as a member of the Silver Ferns squad. She was included in the FastNet Ferns the following year, and was called back into the Silver Ferns for 2011 as cover for injured vice-captain Temepara George. She made the team for the 2011 Netball World Championships after Cathrine Latu was ruled ineligible. She has been in and out of the Silver Ferns team, most recently she played in the first leg of the 2012 Quad Series. She also made the team for the 2013 Fast5 Series, making her the only New Zealand player to contest all five World Netball Series tournaments. Nia Jones
Nia Jones (born 6 April 1992) is an athlete who represents Wales internationally at both netball and football. She won the FAW Young Player of the Year Award in 2011. She was nominated for the SportingWales Magazine and UWIC Rising Star Award in 2013. Early and personal life Jones was born in Wrexham. After attending school at Ysgol Maes Garmon she later studied Sports and PE at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Netball career Jones plays netball as either goal defence or wing defence. She began her career at Mold Netball Club, and she captained the Welsh national teams at under-17 and under-21 youth level. She is currently Co-Captain of the Wales Senior Team. Jones plays for the Leeds Rhinos and the Welsh national team, and she was a squad member at the 2013 Netball Europe Open Championship where they won Gold.
